Let's Talk About Streaming

The problem with streaming is - how the hell do you know what is and isn't first class anymore.
For example - quite thick A4 with 3 second class stamps on it.
Without weighing it and getting one of those guides it is impossible to know if 3 second class stamps adds up to the value to send the thing first class.
I reckon if the mail that has been "streamed" was rigorously checked - people would be sacked for wilful delay.

Once mail is dispatched then it's ALL 1st Class. It all becomes 1st class when it reaches the inward MC (the MC which feeds your DO).

Try working in a D.O, i am sick to the back teeth of M.C failing or when they wont clear just send it out to the D.O's outside of workplan
and let the D.O sort the M.C problems for them

Is your MC in one of the areas which have have MC closures announced? Once the MC closures happen in your area then you'll get that more and depending on how far you are away from the MC you'll get it later as well.

I know that many of us have now experienced the phenomena called 'streaming' - whereby the only parts of a walk that are delivered are the first-class and dated pieces of mail. I've seen it happen umpteen times in the past week and was wondering a few things:

- where the hell did the idea come from?
- who authorised it?
- is it an in-house thing or do the instructions come from higher up than the DOM?
- what should we, as posties, say when we are asked to stream mail?
- how is RM getting away with this practise on a wide scale?
- what caused 'streaming' to come about?

No idea what this threat is actually about but am finding it an immensely entertaining read!

Went in on Monday and as usual theres 2 trays to put in frame even though I should be coming into a fully prepped frame ( never in this fkin lifetime )

SO when the frames up and tied up I tell them i wont finish on time . Stand in manager says ok stream it then ! !

EH ??? What does that mean ? 1st class blah blah blah only ............... I said THAT would take AGES to do as im tied up and wouldnt really make a difference on my finish time as im still doing the full walk and DOING this so called streaming would make me have to leave even MORE mail .

You are missing the point.
Streaming does not help you with finishing on your time...it isn't supposed to.
It is designed purely and simply as a bullying and harassment tool.
You go to him and say "i won't complete"...he says "stream it"...you think about the time it will take to stream it and the fact that you will have to deliver it tomorrow and say "f**k it i'll just take the whole thing"...and he thinks job done.
Then the next time you think about approaching him you'll think..."why bother,he'll just tell me to stream it".

That's what streaming is.

we were told to stream 1st, 2nd and third class mailsort today.
what i dont get is why are we streaming Royal Mails own customers mail.
we should be looking after ourown contracts and streaming DSA
