The following update was issued by Royal Mail Customer Service
Mails network & distribution
air – All of our scheduled services operated yesterday and overnight. Most flights departed on
time, although some delays were experienced due to de-icing aircraft and security screening.
Higher than expected volumes meant that a number of services were full to capacity and contingency
arrangements have been implemented.
Services affected were:
Stansted to Belfast – conveying mail from London and the South East to Northern Ireland
Stansted to Newcastle – conveying mail from London and the South East to North East England
Stansted to Edinburgh – conveying mail from London and the South East to Scotland
Bristol to Edinburgh – conveying mail from the South West of England to Scotland
East Midlands to Isle of Man – conveying mail from across the UK to the Isle of Man
All of these services are being supported with alternate road and sea services; however some delays
to mail may be expected as a result.
rail – Our rail network operated as scheduled with no delays yesterday and last night.
road – All of our road services operated well and to schedule. A number of additional services were
operated during the night to convey additional volumes of mail and generally support other parts of
the network.
distribution & vehicle centres – Our Distribution and Vehicle Centres also played an important
in supporting our network on a very busy last night.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

At least you've GOT (or had some Yorks).......
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
