I'm a reserve, don't like being tied to the same round as it gets boringhubbahubba wrote:Fair enough, but whats your walk area like?pyphon wrote:although I don't mind doing it at christmas so people get there presents, I wouldn't fancy it all year, but it does work, you find most people are in and end up bringing few parcels back.

Re: CWU backing evening delivery?
We are talking about packet/parcels deliverys here and not a letter/walk are we not?
Then i dont see what the problem is.If the trials are showing that it works and we are catching customers in and not having to 739 everything then happy days.As long as the delivery window is sensible(i would have thought after 21.00 is a no no)and it suits the person doing the duty(not everyone wants to be up at the crack of dawn and would maybe prefer to work afternoon/evenings)then why not give it a go.Deliverys are now a round the clock operation in most large towns up and down the country and if it creates more jobs then even better.

Totally agree. but the current management structure does not allow any duties that aren't the standard RM model to work (Family Friendly and DDA for example!)johnnyp wrote:We are talking about packet/parcels deliverys here and not a letter/walk are we not?

They would have to be re-organized to be able to manage the staff. Can't see a DOM or Lino hanging around until 9.00pm at night, if they could sneak off. Which brings back the safety issue if anything should go wrong whilst out on evening delivery and the "management" have gone home early!
