I recall many years ago, before consideration for the feelings of other creatures got the better of my sporting instincts that some of the methods used to lure and catch fish were devious and dastardly in the extreme.
Observing the present situation regarding our confrontation with Royal Mail I suddenly realized that our managers are, or must at some time have been – anglers.
Picture a large idyllic pool with teeming workers swimming purposefully around, living as one with the exception of a few scabby sub species that live off the discarded debris and scraps of the nobler species above them.
Along comes the manager/angler - or perhaps we will call him “Manglerâ€

Just a thought, ??? Im an Angler and i see it as a pastime.. I love the sport Yes but the nature is the main issue i feel i add to the up keep of the riverbank and wildfowl and fish.... I pick up litter Not of my doing and if i see an injured animal/fish/PERSON i will try and help... NOW im feck all special and i like the use of a Angleer as a screw in general In your point Rhino.. BUT I GIVE BACK MORE TO THE HEALTH OF THE QUARRY I SEEK THAN HARM IN LONG TERMS.... Yeh i know the hook CAN rip or disfigure a fish animal.. And some amount of pain will happen... Maybe coz im pissed that im getting a bit over the top on this... But i fish and i hatew fecking screws!!!! LOTS!!!
Rhino me old mucker.. love ya storys and facts abut leave the fishing out of it pal..........
Or i will stick a hook in a screws gob n show ya it dont hurt!!! MUCH!!!

One day we might get to have a pint together and I'll look forward to some tales of the riverbank - no criticism intended, but then the Mangler isn't being sporting.L Tommo wrote:Just a thought, ??? As a passionate angler I would rather not be compared to that bunch of tossers but I do understand the meaning. But I have put far more back in the form of work parties that turn open sewers with no life at all into beautiful lakes rivers and ponds that teem with life of allsorts.
Sorry to be so serious but we sometimes get bad press usually caused by the twice a year fisherman who only goes so that he can have a piss up with a few mates and has nothing to do with real anglers.
ps I knew L.TOMMO had to be a fellow angler from all his sane, intellectual and cultured responses.
