I still can't understand this thing about carrying 2 bundles  I don't know what sort of letterboxes they have over there but sometimes I have to put the one bundle I carry on the floor to be able to get the mail through the letterbox,(loaded springs, brushes that don't line up, flap at the back, cages). I can understand why injuries have gone up, muscle, ligament injuries, tennis/golf elbow, carpel tunnel etc. The people at the top have no idea :arrrghhh

Actually, it didn't... Er, start in Canada, if of course you are referring to that 'two-bundled method' of carrying (and sorting) mail while doing a balancing act on one arm, thingy. Yeah I know, I make it sound like a circus act. But, then again, we are working for a bunch of clowns who's only wish is for us to be as hurriedly sold off as can possibly be. How this would make the business more efficient, without seriously affecting the health and safety of its workforce is beyond me.

You know, I've been trying to find a training video of this method, but haven't been able to. Maybe the idea is so daft that releasing a video of it might find most peeps laughing at RM's assumption that this should have anything to do with the modernisation that they have been promising.

In Canada, it has recently been rolled out, whereas in the US the posties out there have had to endure carrying up to three bundles of work. Though, it is not so much a requirement (I think?), and has been stated (somewhere) that it is up to letter carrier what is more comfortable for him or for her to carry.
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!

I can't understand it myself. I'm thinking that either Canada Post hasn't the technology (that I hope we have?) to stream both ordinary posted mail into sequenced mail, or this is some money-saving scheme (and worker-depletion regime) to have everyone do a whole heap more for nothing.

From the pictures I've seen they are having to straddle 2 satchels, a pouch bag or sack on each shoulder. One arm to somehow trap the (unbundled) machine sequenced mail onto, and the one hand (on the same arm) to sort through the other stuff. Or, something like that?

It's a money/time saving scheme. As I understand it, there are two sets of workers using each office, and they have to clear one lot out in order to make room for the next lot. So they sort their unsequenced mail, but have to take the sequenced mail out separate and deliver it as it comes, hence the 2 bundles. You've got to love that Moya Greene though, haven't you? She's got our interests at heart....
