We had these at our place a few years back,you would do your GP(first delivery)then on the way back to the office empty a few boxes in to your sack and take it back to the DO to be faced by the lads after breakfast then it would go up to the MLO(Mail Centre).

This is,nt new its a return to the old days i did this 25 yrs ago , it just means lots of box keys flying around the office , reserves forgetting keys ,gonna be fun trying to keep safe

We always used to clear the boxes on the way round only stopped at my office when they bought SDD in.

I remember the day when F/T could get £30 for prepping and delivering D2D and even P/T like me got the same.

Now all we get is £20 and £10 respectively.

its only 8 pound i used to get 12 pound early shift allowance and thats gone

we also used to take the "locals" out from what we collected and delivered them on the 2nd delivery, changed days indeed, a postman used to be a respected job, after the war and into the 50's and 60's a lot of posties were ex forces or police, even some of our sayings like being "returned to unit" are military terms

No, you didn't have Door To Doors, and also letters were lighter, more social mail and less business mail which anyway was under 60g not under the 100g basic rate limit now.

Walks were not as long as they are now,also you only cleared 4 or 5 boxes which would fill about half a sack so it was not to bad.
