How long before a stage is issued is acceptable?

Got a mate who has been issued with a stage this week despite having his return to work interview 2 months ago. Is there an acceptable time between this happening? As a stage is part of rm disciplinary procedure surely it must be dealt with within a certain time span.

also affects when stage warning is up.
ie you return to work on say 10th nov after couple months off your year isn,t up until issue date of warning
so you could wait 2mths for warning enabling mgmt to extend year for warning to clear so dont think your records clear from date of return to work. everything twisted in favour of employer
what happened to review of conduct and stages or has union bottled out of that

Q, What is a reasonable time frame.
A, Whatever RM deem it to be.
Nothing unusual or unreasonable about 2 months in RM land.

Yes you have to be very careful with this.I have been caught out with this.I thought I had gone a year since my stage warning
but it was a year since the absence,The procedure actually is a year from when the stage was issued.My interview was conducted by a more senior manager who refused to show any latitude.

.my actual manager would have shown common sense.

I think it was today but im off so not 100% sure. Told them he wasnt happy that its took this long and putting in a grievance. Surely there must be a time limit from actual absence to actual stage warning.

no time limit , but they would have to say why it took so long to have the stage interview. i would expect if they was a consierable deylay that they would date the warnig from the last abscence rather than the interview date.

Pointless argueing against a warning as we know but a god rep 'may' be able to argue that it's too long in between interviews and 'possibly' get it thrown out.
If that doesn't work then again a good rep should demand that is backdated to at least when the warning was sent down/or say 1 week after the btw interview.
And yes a grievance all the way regardless.

This seems to be happening a lot and the screws are taking the piss.
A motion at conference from someone perhaps with us asking for time limits?

I have a quick question related to this.
I was sick four weeks ago and returned to work and didn't have any stage interviews although I should have been put on a stage one.
I am sick again (I'm not normally this bad, I don't know what is going on at the moment but I have a terrible flu) and am possibly going to go sick starting Tuesday 4th, this is the worse flu I have ever had.
Now, I haven't been issued a stage 1 and am going to go sick again so can management call me in on my return and:
1. Issue a stage 1 for my previous sickness, then
2. Issue a stage 2 for this current sickness.
Or will they just haveto issue me a stage 1 because they didn't issue the stage 1 with my previous illness.
Hope this makes sense and any comments would be appreciated.

The Attendance Procedure states that...

All absences up to and including the date of the interview with the manager will be included in the overall review of absence for that stage and will not count towards the next stage of the procedure.

where does this peice of info on royal mail clarifications come from?
i was given a stage warning outside of the 3 month period.My local union rep has never heard of recommendation of ignoring an old warning?
