Postal chaos continues in West Fife

FURIOUS West Fife residents have been joined by their MSP in calling for an inquiry into the “absolute shambles” of disrupted Royal Mail deliveries in recent weeks.

Long queues have been forming in recent days at Woodmill Road sorting office in Dunfermline as patience has finally snapped.

Workers have been brought from other areas to try to deal with the backlog with thousands of Christmas cards still undelivered.

The Royal Mail are blaming the weather but Press readers are asking why this area has failed to cope when other places, also hit by the snow and ice in recent weeks, have been relatively unaffected.

A Dunfermline postman contacted the Press to describe the situation as “an absolute shambles” and MSP Jim Tolson is demanding an inquiry into the disruption .

Rosyth resident Marylyn Melbourne, of Primrose Avenue, called the Press to say, “It’s an absolute disgrace. I would normally have at least 50 cards sent through the post and this year I’ve none at all.

“In the last five weeks or so we’ve had two deliveries of letters plus one night they came around with parcels.”

A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said, “Royal Mail continues to deliver any remaining items posted before Christmas as quickly as possible this week.

“Like every other essential service, we have been hampered by the worst weather in 30 years and Royal Mail has undertaken its biggest ever weather recovery programme to get the mail delivered.

“The postmen and women in West Fife have also had to negotiate particularly icy and slippy pavements and roads.”

*The Press will be covering the mail disruption fully next week so if you’ve been affected get in touch with your experiences.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I was thinking that aswelll with the amount of stories on here about it at the moment.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

We have mail from the week before christmas week on Yorks, about a dozen, full of trays, mostly christmas cards. Volunteers asked to go in on Monday and a night shift Monday night as well. I am not really remotely interested in how much it has cost RM to finance this Christmas but I'll bet my own money that it is a helluva sight more than if they had negotiated a christmas package. This is my last christmas and has been the worst by far.
