The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Too many with fingers up their bums and delusions of grandeur. Still, once the new masters make themselves at home, all this rhetoric will be meaningless. Again, talk is cheap. :funneh

Yes, but you're assuming that people are interested. They're not, which is why opposition to a sell off has been virtually non existent. Secondly, business would just get the impression that all RM workers are strike obsessed and whingers which in turn leads to more calls for privatisation and at the very least, damage to image all of which sees more jobs go. RMC went off on its own set of rails a long time ago. It can be funny, very, but it has no effect on rousing troops or changing opinion or policy at any level that matters. As said its just chat and thats all. Talk is cheap after all.
Xmas has made people notice with the piss poor service both for customers sending and receiving. No doubt it will only get to the muttering stage
that the people of the UK can manage unlike their french counterparts.
Media attention has been awoken on this privatisation garbage both for and against which I find interesting. Usually, these days, the media are
supposedly controlled by business parties and yet they still manage to highlight some of the negativity of privatisation that gives credence to
any non-privatisation faction. RMC has a vary valued roll to play by allowing posties & customers to highlight their own concerns regarding this issue
which can and sometimes get picked up by the media.
Im not saying that privatisation wont happen but it wont be a run of the mill deal that the condems were hoping for.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Fair opinion I suppose but completely ignores facts, news articles, blog stories and even twitter. Still if you ever did take off your blinkers and expanded your posts beyond talking down RMC you would be a good contributor on here, and perhaps even your own site would get more visitors.

BTW what makes you think we are here to rouse troops, change opinion or policy at a level that matters. The clue, again is in the title RoyalMailCHAT, we are here to provide a platform for discussion on postal matters and talk on here is not cheap its free. If anyone wants to do what you suggest then they can feel free to use RMC as a platform but it does not change the basic reason for RMC - Exchange of Views, Opinions and Information.

I can see why your disappointed with RMC though if you think it had such grandiose designs,

Thorby Bislam wrote:30% chav for shame. But some of the questions are a bit disingenuous to say the least.
I mean:
Do you like R&B ?
I'd be willing to wager a considerable sum that chavs have never heard of John Lee Hooker or Elmore James. In fact chavs would probably think that BB King is outdoor cooking, and that Muddy Waters refers to the state of their garden when the snow melts.
And as for:
Was your education payed for by the taxpayer ?
Unless a person was a public schoolboy, everybody's education was payed for by the taxpayer.
A more pertinent question should be Do you have the literacy skills of an average primary school attending child ?
But then, such a person would be unable to read some of the questions and anyway, would not have the attention span to sit down for 28 mentally challanging questions.
So then, the only people capable of completing it are non-chavs, rendering the whole exercise rather pointless.
It ask me daft questions

Football top question - I wear them but I am not chav
Shop in Coop - I do as it is best local shop. I can't keep going to local Tesco as it will means driving.
Have you ever bought Family pack KFC meal. Yes as my father want it for dinner.

Stupid.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7011962.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Judge blasts Kyle show as 'trash'

" In his sentencing, Judge Berg was reported in the Manchester Evening News as saying: "I have had the misfortune, very recently, of watching The Jeremy Kyle Show.

"It seems to me that the purpose of this show is to effect a morbid and depressing display of dysfunctional people whose lives are in turmoil."

He added that it was "human bear-baiting which goes under the guise of entertainment".

"It should not surprise anyone that these people, some of whom have limited intellects, become aggressive with each other.

"This type of incident is exactly what the producers want. These self-righteous individuals should be in the dock with you. They pretend there is some kind of virtue in putting out a show like this," said Judge Berg."
