Council hits out at Royal Mail over magazine deliveries

ANGUS Council is pursuing Royal Mail for failing to meet agreed delivery standards for the council’s magazine.

Only 81% of the contracted delivery of the magazine, Angus Life, has been achieved by Royal Mail, according to a council spokeswoman.

She said: “Everyone is aware the adverse weather conditions have brought significant disruption to mail services.

“Royal Mail has confirmed that only 81% of the contracted deliveries of Angus Life have been done and that no further deliveries will now take place.

“This failure to meet the agreed delivery standards for Angus Life is now being pursued with Royal Mail.”

The situation means the council has had to extend its deadline for feedback from residents about their 2011-12 budget proposals.

The deadline was originally Friday, December 31, but has now been extended to Friday, January 7.

A council spokeswoman said: “As a four-page budget supplement and feedback form was issued with Angus Life, we want to give those residents who have not received a copy the opportunity to find out about the council’s budget proposals for next year and have time to give us their feedback.”

The budget information can be viewed online at http://www.angus.gov.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; budgetchallenge and feedback can be submitted electronically, the spokeswoman said.

She added: “Copies of the supplement can be provided at our burgh Access offices, where completed feedback forms can also be handed in. Feedback by telephone can be given by phoning the council’s Access Line on 0845 777778.”

But what Angus Council fails to mention is that of the 81% of their rags delivered nearly all might have gone straight into the recycling bin.

Memo to council: Engage brain!

1) In the run up to Christmas and New Year period, who is going to be arsed filling in your pointless forms.(I say 'pointless' because who among the population really believes that their opinions will count for anything with you tossers anyway?)

2) We've just experienced the worst December weather on record for a century or more.

3) If 81% of these magazines have reached their intended destination, then under the circumstances, this is pretty good.
Royal Mail's priority at this time of year should be to get all the packages and cards delivered in time for Christmas.
Given the circumstances anything else should be considered a bonus.

4) Extending the deadline until 7th January? Well whoop-de-f*cking-woo! Extend it until the end of January, FFS! You won't be setting the tax until March. That will still leave you all of February to pontificate, procrastinate and generally waste tax payers money expending vast amounts of hot air on nothing.

Why would it take an extra week to deliver 19% of the magazines

It would probably take Royal Mail a week to find out who is holding on to the 19%. Could be in the frames, on the floor, or in the returns trays.

I think this may be a D2D contract..
If so 81% is not that bad considering the weather,the time of year and the inaccurate methods used in calculating D2D quality.

So for Royal Mail to confirm that no more deliveries will take place, it must be that they have not got these to the DOS and SUBS for them to be able to be delivered, or else they would need to check with each frame where and why a possible 19% has failed. In other words it is another management failure.

why should a booklet take priority over someone mail leter /parcel etc if they wanted it sent out they should have hired the council workers to deliver to every household
