Xmas Eve

Post by Stampy »

Any other MC working Xmas Eve...

We've been told that we have attendance on ALL 3 shifts on this date in our MC....

10pm start for me :so there
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Stampy, they're probably refering to the 00:00-06:00 part of xmas eve. btw on the Tuesday night/Wednesday morning of the 28th/29th is the night shift at your MC back in at midnight or do you get the whole of the Tuesday night off?

Nope - they want us to attend from 10pm on Xmas Eve...

Mornings 6-2
Afternoons 2-10
Nights 10 - ???

Back in on night shift at 10pm on Wednesday 28th.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,

They'll probably send everyone home at midnight as then your into xmas day and they probably don't want to have to pay extra for that. At least though on the Tuesday night/Wednesday morning of the 28th/29th you get the whole Tuesday night off, we only get the before midnight (the part of the shift in the Tuesday) off.

Notice up last night from the Head of the CWU..

Saying that he personally called our Mail Centre Manager on Friday morning and told him in NO uncertain terms that he cannot FORCE people to work on Xmas Eve.

So now the Night Shift do NOT have to attend...
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

Again, no consistency across Mail Centres... I presume each Mail Centre Manager can implement his own strategy as he/she thinks fit to the running of that particular 'business unit' - At the end of the day it depends on the knowledge and prowess of Union people to decipher the runes of: 'The Way Forward Agreement'..

I just hope they manage to get their act together for the next Xmas campaign... :nervous
