Why do RM think that it's ok to send out MS and massive DSA mailshots?? They really have the dumbest people in charge, people couldn't give a flying fook about holidays/ferrys/ground rents, all they want is their cards and presents.

More cold weather payment brown DLs,or some other cr*p from the DWP, coupled with Council letters to all the council houses made what would have been a reasonable day in to a hellish time with snow and ice underfoot and no spikes or chains.

I am slowly losing the will to deliver....................

Absolutely s**t day.
Massive packet failures. Nearly every walk assessed..

They must have known how much s**t was still in the pipeline.
They must have known we didn't have adequate resources in place to deal with it.
They must know we won't have adequate resources in place to deal with the s**t next week either.

Is the aim to celebrate xmas on Jan 6th with the Orthodox Church?

Even without all the ice and snow today was the most heavy christmas eve i have every seen in 22 years.


A full load of mail came in with no less parcels than we have had all week , so anyone thinking of an early finish was stuffed. I took one look at my full york of parcels and told the dom straight away i could not see myself getting round. She could not understand it , she actually said so the fact ive been taking up to 6 hours to get round on this ice seems to have not registered with her at all, but then ive not been going home to nearly 3pm all week and she's been out the door by 1pm .

Anyway She called "live mail only" which due to the amount of christmas cards i knew was not going to make any difference (in fact i left 9 calls out of 362). She came round again looking very concerned at the frame of mail but offering no practical advice. So i told her i would clear the parcels first then start the delivey as normal until i began to run out of time at which point i would clear the packets. Which is what i did and cut off a bag and a half at 13.45 .

Oh my concerned dom went home at 10.40am as she had a lot still to do at home . Bless

Consensus at our place was that this Christmas Eve compared poorly to last, though my walk seemed to attract a little bit of the Christmas luck, with not a lot of mail and, relative to recent weeks, not a lot of packets. One bag had none at all and out of the others only one was heavy. It still took me a while and, in typical fashion, I couldn't get rid of my special. I had eleven recordeds and a special on Christmas Eve though; all letters, all rubbish. I thought about shoving some of them through.

Got to start earlier than normal at 0630, was ready to tie up ~0815, but gave another PTer who came in at 0800 a hand to catch up...

Much less mail than yesterday, just ~4 tays in total (sequenced plus manual) instead of ~9! Parcels same as most days through the Xmas pressure weeks, 2 full bags. 7 specials, 4 recorded. As has been the norm, two bags at my drop point.

Out the door at ~0915, on my way home at 1445, having taken my rightful meal relief of 40 minutes for 7+ hours.

No deliveries for four days!

Pretty Mellow week Why? Because I only made my hours up were I WANTED then took me day off and cut off today bringing back about 25% of the walk.

Most of my office look like s**t warmed up They've been in at stupid o'clock working until 1800 and getting totally stressed. Some are even still worrying about letting "their" customers down at Christmas. I keep telling them we're understaffed, Management are taking the piss and it's RM that are letting the customers down!

I expect they'll all be flaked in their armchairs and spending most of THEIR Christmas knackered. RMs had the best of them! Merry Christmas All

The worst xmas eve ever. They even wanted me to do parcels after the walk. Got asked if I'd go in on Wednesday for more parcels, . Went out for a few beers and ordered a curry on the way home. Merry Christmas everyone.

Started at 5 did full duty with 24 specials and loads of tracked got back in yard at 1pm and told don't hand keys in you're going back out on parcels..............decided too scrub off overtime and head home.

Pretty feckin' shite - I've worked my ass off for the last 3 weeks, and started feeling run down or getting cold / touch of flu, but kept going on the basis that today would make it all worth while ( a day at home with the wife, a cracking meal of honey roast ham and all the trimmings, a bottle of Italian white, chocolate gateau, a glass or two of Bourbon, catch up on some decent telly, a dvd or two, etc, etc, ) but no, I woke up feeling a bit s**t, took some cold relief tablets, and a couple of co-codamol & one sip of fresh coffee later, I spewed the lot up & retired to bed with a migraine....and frankly, I'm real bitter to have lost today - nothing RM has done has f****d me over as much as that migraine has done.

Jesus Jim sorry you had such a poor christmas day

I felt fustrated and angry leaving work xmas eve and having to cut off. Even getting some late tips out on the round did not lift the gloom. Got home around 2pm feeling really down My legs ached and the soles of my feet ached from wearing spikies.

Picked up a lot christmas day esp after the second glass of shampoo . Ive had a good nights sleep even though i was awake at 5.30am and although my feet still ache RM seems a long way away

Hope you get a better day today Jim, dont let the job drag you down mate as they aint worth it

xmas eve was my work day ever, 30 signs for, i beleive the guy left about 10 from the day before. finishes at 4.40pm normal hours till 2.

Cheers Krussel, at least I felt well enough to enjoy The Royale Family, ( still majorly pissed off at missing me lunch ), but yeah, I've pretty much recovered, and started getting ready for Wednesday but still enjoying chilling out in a stress free environment ( 3 more days of labour, then I get a week off, get a head shrinking assessment & a few days R & R in Cornwall )
