No chance of clearing up in Barnsley.
Get ready for the big speech on Fri morning.

However on Friday the M.C reduced its workforce by around 75 OPG's. Why RML consider one week before Xmas a suitable date for VR bods to leave is rather baffling.
Ah! If only we all lived in Shangri La.

My DOM tells me that half the VR's have been taken back on as Xmas casuals.
thought they had to wait for 2 years before they could again work even as temps ... but you do have a 'special office' dont you :d'oh! ......eutopian regimes

Sorry folks, cant help the WF agreement making Xmas pressure period close to annual leave thus generating 8 extra members of staff. Big help that.

Plenty of day off working as well going on.

Troops having a 1 hour earlier start on docket third year on the trot the DOM has decided to do that. NOT negotiated by me was off sick for 37 days up to Sunday.

Troops are completing their deliveries and booking docket if they go over.

Not so long ago RML management higher up the chain were hoping for Xmas at no cost :left:

Of course all of the above is at risk with a privatised RM that will not fork out docket but instead employ seasonal staff on the minium wage thus saving around £3 a hour? (Accurate figure most welcome)

You were just getting into the swing of things in the last paragraph Daz.
There you see you can do it, and conform to the right way of thinking.

£5.95 I believe for directly employed casuals, which is 2p above the minimum wage.

Current minimum wages are:

£5.93 - the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
£4.92 - the 18-20 rate
£3.64 - the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
£2.50 - the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship

Dont be so grumpy axeman

If you read my post further up you will se there is extra man power in the D.O in the form of no annual leave which should be the case with all D.O's, there is day off working going on including OPGs who do not normally volunteer to work their day off, the DOM is offering one hour overtime in the morning prior to normal duty start time and nobody is cutting off simply booking heavy delivery/Xmas pressure overtime if they go over.

That is not utopia, it is RML having the good fortune to have staff willing to work enough overtime hours to have a clear D.O on Xmas Eve.

Who knows the MC might end up sending us mail in such a quanity that not even the overtime hours the staff/CWU mbrs are willing to work will be enough.

I would to like finish off with a bit of Doom and gloom for my good comrade gb93 :wave

Xmas mail 2012, well that will be a eye opener as buy then we will have had almost 12 months of delivery methods and sequenced mail revisions planned using geo route and a planner. I'd best get :pray on behalf of the mbrs.

...the DOM is offering one hour overtime in the morning prior to normal duty start time

We were offered 1hr on IPS some days prior to duty start time but almost to a man the posties knocked it back.
And then they came in 1hr early to prep their frames. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

While the Government runs our Royal Mail,as a national enterprise many areas which are essentially profitless still get a six day a week service.Under Privatization, private companies could to a degree remove them from their performance targets.
We have already seen this Christmas the Dangerous cost-cutting measures to maximize overtime/extra driving duties, etc, etc.Royal Mail, its not all been about the weather holding us back.Pull all the stops out and get Our Christmas back on track!Santa needs some help .
