Think you'll be OK but I'd stick with blankets, shovel, fully charged mobile phone, plenty of fuel and thermos flasks of hot beverages.
The gritters are out in force at the moment anyway (just seen one nearly go over at a roundabout cos he was driving too fast).
Just driven back from my parent's house in the valleys about 8 miles away. Nearly got stuck at the next village cos I had to pull over to let someone past, who actually should have stopped because they had a clear bit to pull in to... ahole.
