Our H&S rep is also our union rep and he tells us that as long as the bag is 9 or 10 kilos its grand to carry on the the shoulder as agreed in the 2010 agreement and why would you want to use a trolley as it slows you down no end!
Went from a 31/2hr walk with 5 bags to a 6 hr p&lp with 10 bags altho union rep and dom say it can be done in 4.45 with a trolley. It really does beggar beleif, oh aye and still kept my 1 in six sats off cause they could not get there head round the menu off options given to them so best to keep as is!

You say we should use the tools given to us ie using trolleys but surely if the snow is bad then you cant use the trolleys so really deliveries should not be going out at allcow post wrote:Why should you or anybody else be taking more weight on ones shoulder. The whole idea behind moderisation was to make the job easier by not carrying weight on the shoulder and using the tools which are given to you.NewPostieUK wrote:The only change for me is more weight on the shoulder. Instead of doing 3 door to doors 5 days a week, we do 5 door to doors six days a week. No other changes at all.
You'd think that the ways to take the weight OFF the shoulder would be in place before actually giving us more to carry, but oh no, not at Royal Mail
Thats why we have 80 trolleys in our office but none are getting used right now because of the snow...and it will be the same after all the snow has gone. This shouldn't be the case!
If your not using the tools then you could go down the conduct code...but personally i don't think the doms would care as long as you can finish the job asap.

No..in cases of severe weather where the trolley's cannot be used deliveries and loops should be adjusted for the use of lightweight 8kg max bags.malcolm3011 wrote: You say we should use the tools given to us ie using trolleys but surely if the snow is bad then you cant use the trolleys so really deliveries should not be going out at all
The added fatigue should also be taken into account with extra breaks built in...roughly 10-15mins every 1-1.5hrs... preferably somewhere warm and dry.

Re: What has changed since "2010 and Beyond"
Because there is more mail (inc door to doors). I can't leave it in the office. I'm talking TOTAL weight here. Obviously I weigh my bags and make sure they are under the guideline weights. The TOTAL weight for my walk is UP due to the increase in door to doors (forgetting it's christmas for a moment) and there are NO tools, procedures, guidelines, vans, trolleys etc. Nothing at all has been implemented except for more door to doors.cow post wrote:Why should you or anybody else be taking more weight on ones shoulder..NewPostieUK wrote:The only change for me is more weight on the shoulder. Well thank hayes and Ward for that. Another little cracker they arranged for us, while they sit in their nice warm offices>>NewPostieUK wrote:The only change for me is more weight on the shoulder.
