The volumes are ridiculous, lightest I've seen in my seven months with RM. Something has gone wrong somewhere in the pipeline, there's definitely a backlog somewhere. "Christmas pressure" my arse so far, something's gotta give. Having said that, I've still had to book o/t a few times to get finished because of the amount of packets. Two and a half packet bags may not be a lot compared to some but it still means seven bags, and seven bags means going over your time.

last year was light for us.
the run up to the pressure period this year was quite bad.

i think its becoming more and more difficult to predict.

people in different areas seem to plan differently

We're an spdo of only 7 rounds but for the last 3 weeks have been snowed under. This is my 11th christmas in the job and in the past we've never failed to clear all the mail and parcels. This year it's different. We've had 2 people in for 3hrs the last 3 Sundays just to do parcel runs to clear the backlog. The 1st 2 weeks a lot of us couldn't complete our rounds due to the snow even after doing 60 to 90 mins overtime. This last week we've not had time to prep all the loose mail into our frames, leaving a tray or 2 to finish off the next day.I'd say mail is down but packets and parcels have gone through the roof. The biggest pain has been the amazon parcels. Most of them seem to be tracked. One person has to stop primary sorting and log them all in into the office on the pda. That's if we can get a signal. We thought maybe people had rushed to get their parcels early due to all the problems reported in the media and maybe this week things would calm down a bit.Our manager phoned up on Saturday(he's based 20 miles away)to say this Monday and Tuesday would be the worst yet.Funny,we were told that about last Monday and Tuesday.Definately the busiest christmas as far as we're concerned.

We are running out of space to store backlog of packets. Way more than i have ever seen. Most wagons are coming with 13-14 yorks of packets and just 1 or 2 of letters. We haven't any code sorted for three days. Even if we do somehow clear by christmas there is no way the MC will.

Heaviest for me. It's my forth Christmas as well.

Saturdays I'm meant to prep and deliver a walk in 4.5 hrs (plus 30 mins break).

Yesterday took me a full 8 hrs.

Heaviest Xmas in the time ive been here, packets are unbelieveable.i cover a diff walk each day and each frame hasnt had enough space for all the cards/letters but flats are relatively less. Been going in early to prep for a couple of hours o/t, and have been finishing late, even working my day off on occasion but balls to working sundays too, otherwise i'd be spending Xmas catching up on sleep instead of eating too much, watching sh*t telly and annoying her relaives.

This is my fifth Christmas and it's by far the lightest. Flats usually seem to drop off around this time but this year it's been ridiculous..only getting about one box a day at the moment. January will be a bitch. :d'oh!

My 23rd Christmas as a postie and certainly loads of mail missing in my office, no wage slip for 2 weeks, posted a letter back after a shop was shut on the 10th december and it turned up the 17th december  Was expecting to be going way over yesterday but finished 5 minutes early,no doubt we will be rammed with letters this week, packets are as heavy as ever and our dom told us the week before last as we are not lapsing over xmas to take 7 or 8 more packets than normal :whistle dosent he realise its not just the drivers who get battered with packets at this time of year!!!!!
