Park and loop would work just fine if RM reduced the size of the duties , their going to either carry on paying the overtime or make the rounds smaller because with the current set up there is no way of getting finished on time . If some of the loops are heavy the trolleys are spot on . In our office I can't believe there's staff who won't use them . I suppose when laws came in to stop kids going up and sweeping chimneys it took years to convince people that it was a poor way of working and bad for your health .pokos27 wrote:can park and loop ever work, or is it just very badly planned.
surely how can it work over christmas with the increase of packets recorded.
i work on a night shift, packets have increased.

Re: Park And Loop Pandamonium!
Its not the size of the duties, its the speed of which the duties are set at on geo route.
Everybody is meant to walk at a speed of 3.7mph (dead walking from and to delivery points)...and what i mean by anybody is male, female, young, old, tall, or small has to walk at that pace thats because geo route set that pace which in my eyes is wrong as everyone is different of course.

The Guardian has been inundated with stories from furious readers who have been caught up in delays following the introduction of new Royal Mail procedures aimed at making the system more efficient.

She added: "I've never seen it like this before, you think they could get some temporary workers to help out if staffing is the issue, there are plenty of people without a job who would jump at the chance of some seasonal work."
A spokesperson for Royal Mail said: "We apologise if some customers visiting Chorley Delivery Office have had to wait longer than expected to collect their parcels."
Yeah agree, I have worked in a callers office as part of my duty, and its the same old problem up and down the country. R.M. think they can staff these callers offices with one person [ pref part time ] and until they wake up to the fact that you can`t it wont be any better

The real problem with Royal Mail is they are arrogant and can't admit when they are wrong.

You will have some sort of revision Jimmy because your WS mail will be long before next christmas.............preparation for the installation of the machinery is well underway at an office near youJimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:The planning stages I think Belle. We were meant to start planning in November, and then the dom said we`d leave it till after xmas as its hectic at our place. So the plan was to start planning in January, and now theyve been told to scrap the planning until further notice, and dont expect to have any news until at least NEXT xmas, if at all. It wont work at our place for numerous reasons, and they know it.belle smith wrote:What do you mean suspended, that you were doing it but your not now?Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:We got told today that P&L suspended, but we get WS in February

I still dont see why RM have spent £1.3 billion on new equipment when they are so close to being owned by the Dutch/Germans.
Will the new owners still owe the govt this money or will it be written off at the expense of the tax payer?

I don't think the goverment gave this money to benefit RM and its employees , Spending the money on modernisation makes RM look more attractive to potential buyers . I also think that Postcomms recent relaxation in what RM can charge its business competitors is no coincidence .
