erm...DHL
i know its an awkward question.. somethings cropped up.
yesterday, a sender was going to send me my deliver by hermes but missed the 12pm booking time. i suggested if it can be sent by parcelforce so i can receive it tomorrow or saturday. she said no cos it costs too much. i gulped when i saw the price.
so, the sender booked dhl instead as she didnt mind losing a couple of quid but wasn't willing to pay parcelforce's £12.
anyway, the collection was booked and due to picked up today. the seller emailed me saying there was a delay. i contacted dhl which was farcical. but, because it was booked through a third party called mail2go, bloody complications.
i was told that dhl called and were told there was no parcel to pick up. i get in touch with the seller and said nobody called.
i asked mail2go if dhl left a calling card... no calling card was issued... hmmmm. scam? it hs been rebooked tomorrow, and if no action, paypal will be notified etc so i'm protected.
what are the chances of DHL going to the wrong address?

Re: erm...DHL
has anyone heard or use this company mail2go.com???
https://www.parcel2go.com/order-new.aspx?serviceid=114" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Parcelforce UK 24 - £11.99 plus vat = 14.08
Parcelforce UK 48 - £10.99 plus vat = 12.91 - parcelforce webpage says 10.50 grrrrr.
now, this firm acts as an agent... dhl and other firms collect from homes... who collects from homes if they book the parcelforce delivery? sounds a scam.
update: parcelforce do the pick up. ' still don't like the sound of an agent making 2 pounds and 41 new p money on it.
update 2: plus vat

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: erm...DHL
postman, rm don't charge to pick up, do they when booking the pick up? i can't find anything that suggests an additional charge
if i had time, i would have suggested to the sender. i thought the broker was charging the same rates and they get paid via the courier. because of the short time span, there wasn't much time to look. thats why i mentioned she dint want to pay PF twelve quid.. and that got me thinking, god prices have gone up.
RM quotes are vat exempt.. the brokers quotes are higher plus vat.

Re: erm...DHL
hang about.. hang about... what or where is the vat being charged on here?
for example, in the parcels2go site, they have parcelforce uk 48 with them is £10.99 plus vat
why they call it uk 48?..in the parcelforce site, it is parcelforce express 48 £10.50
how can parcels2go and charge vat or in what area where can they charge vat when its vat free in the first place? the only place where i can see where they could charge vat is in a 'booking fee'.. say the charged a 50pence levy for handling, thats the only place they can add the vat. or in their case, the 49p difference between them and parcelforce. and the vat should be 8 pence

Re: erm...DHL
The reason DHL did not collect is due to the fact that they are 5 days behind in their deliveries and are only collecting from contract customers until they are sorted,i am a parcelforce driver and have collected from numerous customers who have been let down this week by them (via the brokers) so they used us knowing they would get their parcels collected.

Nope - as I understand it only RM and its subsidaries can provide VAT free delivery (something to do with the USO). Your contract whilst completed by PFWW is actually with the broker - therefore you pay them the full price for the service they are provding and they pay PFWW an agreed price decided by contract. In essence you are paying £10.99 plus VAT for a contract of service not the delivery of the parcel. They then pay PFWW something like £8.00 for instance because they send a bulk amount of parcels.

Re: erm...DHL
learn something new all the time. what i'll do is let people know in future to bypass the brokers and just sign up directly if they can manage it. firms like dhl wont accept joe public directly so people have to use the broker...
business takes priority of contracts whoever the courier is...but... pardon me for breathing, a contract is a contract, business or pleasure - farcical.
i was told about the backlog..2 days turns into 3, 3 turns into 4... 4 turns into 5.
im sure the dhl in germany itself has a better system than dhl in britain...or aren't dhl german anymore lol,
and dhl want to buy into RM....doh.

Re: erm...DHL
TBT.. that doesn't make sense...to me at least.. if the broker is paying PF 8quid when the normal charge with PF is £10.50, surely PF can charge £8 in the first place? jeez, someone is making a packet out of this scam.

Re: erm...DHL
just realised what i said, and there was no joke intended when i mentioned making a packet
in one respect, should the agent be paying 8quid legally to PF, surely it exposes PF position. either it exposes PF charging more than they should and leaves the suggestion that the public choose NOT to use PF and opt for cheaper options, taking work out from RM and PF altogether. and RM are scratching their heads wondering why people use dhl and other firms.. i'm not going to mention at all why other couriers can exist because of the lower pay rates, because there is no need to in this case, as the courier is RM/PF. should PF be accepting 8quid from the agent when it should really be £10.50 (as in this case, PF could charge £8 in the first place instead of the extra £2.50 hike in £10.50, and not end up cutting off their nose to spite the face.
either the agent is making a mug of PF, or PF make mugs of joepublic...it's quite hard to tell

Re: erm...DHL
Different types of customer get different rates, clear and simple.
If you want to post a letter with a stamp you'll pay £0.41 for 1st class. Using meters (franking) you'll pay £0.36. Using PPI you'll pay another (lower) price again.
Why does his happen? Bulk posting. If a firm sends 10,000 letters in a single dispatch it is a lot more efficient than collecting 10,000 letters from post boxes. Bigger poster are also more likely to use address formats that are machine readable and don't need poor buggers all down the line trying to read the scrawl that passes for someones handwriting.
The broker in this case will have a contract for putting many items into the delivery network and will get a discount based upon that. You as a individual person can not hope to post in sufficient bulk to earn the lower rates therefore you pay normal price.
This is normal and perfectly legal. Bulk attracts discounts for many reasons. If you feel pricing is a scan contact the regulator and they'll give you the standard reply to daft questions like that.
If you feel like setting up a contract with PF then feel free to try...

Re: erm...DHL
i see the point with the bulk discount. even if it's on letters. maybe it's time for RM to allow easier access for the public to sign up?
does PF give itself a discount when convyeing with a full load on it's own fleet?
