A POSTMAN jailed for life for murdering his married mistress is suing Royal Mail for sacking him.
Roger Kearney - who stabbed Paula Poolton, 40, seven times and dumped her body in the boot of her car in 2008 - will seek damages over the decision to fire him.
It is believed Kearney, 57, lost his £400-a-week job following his conviction. The case at a Southampton Tribunal tomorrow is expected to go ahead in his absence as he is not being allowed to leave prison.
The Royal Mail said: "Mr Kearney's dismissal was in accordance with Royal Mail's very comprehensive employment procedures.
"Royal Mail will defend its position vigorously at this tribunal. We do not feel that it is right, or in the public interest, for a criminal convicted of such a serious crime to bring an action of this kind."
A Royal mail source said: "Nobody knows why he is bringing this case other than for his own twisted satisfaction. There is no way he can win. He is just wasting everyone's time and money."
The father-of-two, of Sarisbury Green, Southampton, stabbed Paula to death because she was pressuring him to leave his partner. They met while working as stewards at Southampton FC.
