CWU Waste of time.

The total membership determines income MoC...which in turn determines expenditure...which in turn determines just how many full-time reps and officials the union can justify.
As your membership decreases so you must cut your cloth accordingly.
It has already been noted that we have a union structure designed to support 300,000 members...and a membership base of less than 65% of that figure....so you do the maths.
To say that full-time officials will not be worrying about the decline in membership would mean that they were unable to grasp simple economics...i don't think that's true.

There are 40 members of staff but only 20 are in the CWU and so only the 20 got a vote.
The non members were truly pi**ed off but, hey, rules are rules
No result in as yet as the ballot only started a week ago.

how bizarre , this sounds like you could be talking about an office i know rather well . they have a similar amount of staff and probably a similar ratio of members/non members , and there was a ballot started about the same time , the only difference being that the non members in the office i know , are for the most part indifferent about not getting a vote .

Dont agree with this statement although the d2d thing is a disaster especially for pts. I went to put in a grievence against my lino because of what i thougt was h&b and the rep managed to put me off i just wonder if there is something going on at our office or does this happen regulary.

Sometimes reps have to tell mbrs what they need to hear not what they want to hear. If I had a mbr whose grumble was in my view something for the greviance procedure rather than the B&H procedure then I would steer them to away from B & H procedure.

CWU has a harrasment line and email address which mbrs can use use to seek a second opinion if they felt their reps view was incorrect.

Leaving the CWU is going to do what exactly?? Are you also quiting royal mail?? It was a two sided agreement, the union didn't exactly want the agreement but it's what had to be done.If royal mail had there own way it would be a whole lot worse. Instead of leaving your branch become more involved and change things your not happy with. Leaving the CWU will do NOTHING, only strenghen Royal Mails hand.

TBT,i totally understand the need for anonymity when posting on here and that is why i was only asking for the sector,rather than the actual office he was posting specific information about! Fact is i know exactly who he is and which office he's talking about and so do many of the workers there who are members of this forum! Fine if you want to chuck in a few "little untruths" to distance yourself from it,but why slur it with "NEVER EVER STRIKE" lies which deeply offend the office in question!
