LONG queues of ‘frustrated’ customers braved the cold weather to lay claim to post that has gone undelivered due to the recent spell of winter weather.

Royal Mail delivery office in Falcon Close, BurtonAt times more than 30 people stood waiting to receive goods at the Royal Mail delivery office in Falcon Close, Burton, yesterday.

This comes after a number of homes and businesses across Burton were frozen out after postmen were unable to make deliveries on paths and roads due to the big freeze.

Dean Challinor, who was queuing with his partner Abbey, contacted the Mail to describe the situation.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it when we got to the delivery office — there was quite a lot of people.

“At first there was no room for parking and then we were faced with quite a long wait.

“When speaking to people in the queue there were people from all walks of life from businesses to people just trying to make sure that Christmas gifts had arrived on time.

“One thing I must say is that the staff were great and deserve a lot of praise for dealing with all the customers.

“From the number of people at this one office, it really hits home how much of an effect this weather has had in Burton.

“With more cold weather on the way it can only be hoped that everyone gets all the important mail in time for Christmas and no-one misses out.” Previously a Royal Mail spokesman said: : “We apologise to those customers who have experienced delays to their deliveries as a result of the severe weather.

“Customers who would like further information about services in their area should go to http://www.royalmail.com/service" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; updates.” The last post day before Christmas for standard parcels is tomorrow.

Second class recorded items need to be posted by Saturday and first class items needed to be sent by next Tuesday.

FFS what planet do these people live on!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
