Snappy dog stops post deliveries on entire street

A street in Canvey, Essex, has had no mail deliveries for a month after a postman complained of being bitten by a rottweile

Royal Mail has stopped sending postal workers to Woodville Road because of concerns for their safety.
But the dog’s owner denied it had bitten the postman – and had only gone for his bike.
Neighbour Karen Allwood, 40, said: 'We just stopped getting post. My husband was waiting for Manchester United tickets and they never came.
‘Royal Mail is punishing the entire street for a problem with one address.’
Another neighbour, Steve Wright, 53, said that he thought the actions were 'pathetic'.
He said: 'It's annoying more than anything, you have to keep going up to the post office if you're expecting anything important.
'I think it's pathetic, the dog barks a bit but as long as it's behind the gate your fine.
'School children walk past it every day, I don't see why it's so different for the postman.'

 Maybe all the neighbours should speak to the dog owner? And as for 'it's only gone for his bike' ----

Oh, so schoolchildren have to actually open the gate and walk up to the door to deliver mail through the door do they? I know people seem to have a very tiny grasp of what is involved in our job but this guy takes the biscuit.

I wonder what they would say if a size 10 postie boot was to put the dog into doggy heaven?

Can you do me a small favour, m4e? Go up to the postie concerned, shake his hand & tell him he shouldn't have to worry about dogs & don't let whiney bastards grind him down ( and say a silent prayer of thanks that your lineo has the right attitude as well ). :Applause :Applause :Applause

Will do , I knew someone had been bitten ,but i did not realise that lino/dom had refused to have the mail delivered to the street, though in there defence the dog must have gone for another postie as they don't normally suspend deliveries on the first attack
I only read it on the front page of the local paper

Can the sister misic4essex therefore confirm that the postie was indeed bitten by this rottweiler. And just wondering if all the neighbouring properties received a copy of one of the following.

I spoke to the dom today and he confirmed the dog had bitten the postman, also the police have been involved,
One person in the street also said the dog is a nightmare and the owners don't care,

Also an 80yr old resident came up to the office yesterday in the callers and went off on one about not recieving her post and was swearing like anything,

As for the download I was unable to convert the pdf,
I will ask the dom if he has put the letter to the other households

Nice letter Brothermagrew, must admit I've not seen one before, but then I bet most DIMs haven't either. At least if this letter is sent out it lets the neighbours know wtf is going on. I presume it also produces a lot of "Peer Pressure" for the idiot to sort his dog out!

As for Music4essex having to find out what's happening in her own office from the local paper? Says a lot about communications in her office

Perchance the brother Dorset Plodder will time permitting pop over to the H&S Forum Page 2 and look specifically for LTB 463/10 Attachments where he will see at least another 6 forms of letters available to DOMs. Have to disagree in that by now most DIMs or DOMs will be aware of such letters as it is all part of the new WRAP process (which was introduced months ago). As I understand it, by now all delivery office managers should have received from Royal Mail the WRAP Manual and in particular the section of the manual entitled Safety management standards - Walk Risk Assessment - Control of Dogs - Control of Pouch Weights, where such letters are to be found.

Bit low of them geting a cancer patient awaiting important letters for an interview. :no no
Will try and get the link when it comes online.
They had Dave Joyce on there though saying our bit which was good.

Oh and the owner of the dog say's it's not her fault.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Thanks for the recommended reading material Brothermagrew, most DIMs may have received this new info but I expect we'll still have to point it out to them. Our DIM deleted a load of files from his laptop, obviously the ones we needed at the time. You couldn't make it up.....Designed by computers, built by robots and operated by MORONs
