It's at this festive time of the year when xmas lights are flickering, snow is falling & Wizard are singing that
I change my name to paperboy milkman. Delivering to the customers I am gobsmacked at how they knew I
had changed my name when I find envelopes pinned to the door with either my new first name or second name.
Sometimes they just call me postie but not often enough for me as familiarity breeds etc
As I wander back down their snow laden driveways I just briefly wonder how they knew I had changed my name
before issuing a quiet thank you whilst pocketing the envelope.
But one thing that is good about Xmas is these customers sure are nice :chuckle
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

During the year they've read your name off the top of the P4550 signature card. :Very Happy

i always try and finish my round as quick as i can as i just want the job done and then get back to some kind of a life , on one of my previous duties i always had one "customer" who would come out and try and have a conversation every day , he wasn't a lonely old pensioner or anything , just a pest , it was my last street so i was always trying to get past his house without him noticing me and the best thing about xmas was that he disappeared for the whole festive period, i know it was to avoid giving me a tip but to me it was heaven being able to finish without the git stopping me , as for tips , i don't really care what i get, the quicker xmas is over the better, after 20 years of being treated like s**t by the public and management alike i cant wait for january

I expect none and rarely get any!

If I get it forced in my hand I always say "I get paid to do the job"

But delivering to a council estate, they are more interested when the next brown envelope will be delivered over Christmas period!

He had probably gone to his place in the Caribbean!

Got 5 £1 coins from one bloke, who said "It's in coins so it can't be traced" (I think he meant the taxman, or it was some dodgy money he'd gotten! :Very Happy )

Read the bit about 'pest' and knew you had to be female! Totally agree with the rest of it..... Christmas as postman is a PITA apart from a bit of overtime.

My first christmas at Royal Mail and ive only been on my walk part time for couple of months now so didny really expect any tips. Spent the last week busting my ass trying to clear 4 days worth mail from the delivery cancellations last week. Its stupidly icey, 4.10pm, getting dark and almost finished horrible day and a lady walks over to me with a crisp five pound note! 'I dont care what other people say i think you guys are great. Have a couple drinks on me postie!' :Very Happy I wasnt even delivering to her road, she came to find me and she didnt even tell me her house number or anything.... There are still some decent customers out there!

But saying that i bet that will be the only xmas tip i get this year judging by the amount of parcels still left in our DO!
