Dear Colleague,

Delivery Call Rates – Call rate Calculator Validation Exercise

Branches will be aware that meetings have been taking place recently to validate and update certain aspects of the revisions tools and to generally move things forward regarding measurement and performance standards etc; some of this has involved testing in a live environment. The CWU had previously questioned the accuracy of the call rate calculator (CRC) used in Pegasus to establish delivery route call rates and as a consequence some testing of the calculator/system against actual physical counts and manual calculations took place with full CWU involvement. The outcome of the validation exercise is attached for the information of Branches and Representatives.

Further to this a document entitled “Establishing Call Rate – Best Practice” has been jointly agreed to provide guidance to Delivery Representatives and managers when dealing with this issue.

The outcome of the exercise is that if the call rate calculator is used in line with the validation report and best practice document then the call rate Calculator is deemed as accurate and reliable enough to provide call rates when dealing with this aspect of delivery routes.

A simple sheet indicating how to manually calculate the call rate is also attached.

Please note that the establishment of call rates does not include D2D which should be factored in after the call rate has been established using the attached xls conversion chart.

...and on a day that realistically gives an overall assessment of mail; not on the lightest Tuesday in the middle of July as RM bods seem to favour.
D2D should also be included, after all it's workload now cold calling or not - 16.67% per day n'est ce pas?

The RM calculate that you only knock on 17 houses in the whole of your walk with rec, reg, & pkts as well! i did that in my first bag alone today! What about the other six bags?
