The union have also argued that there should be an different speed based on age and gender however again there is no resolution.
How can that work if georoute is a revision/resource tool not an individual performance measurement tool?
How would older/female members be protected if they were reserves?
Would they carry about a -50 door handicap from duty to duty and if so who would take up the slack?
If Royal Mail and the CWU have set the bar too high would it not be better to admit that and down dial the georoute expectations for all members before more georoute based office revisions fail?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

The simple answer to all of this would be for Royal Mail to pay an annual salary. If the young ones want to run around and save an hour so beit, but there would be no penalties on the older/female members of staff. In terms of easy and heavy days, it would be swings and roundabouts. You would know at the job interview that the basis of employment is that you finish your round on any day you work. No overtime, no bullshit but a very fair salary for the conditions that we have to work in and under. Working hours could still be built in for flexibility around child care needs etc. How much would RM save on not having to monitor and pay for overtime.

The point sounds trivial but the 60 seconds changeover/replenishment time is ridiculous.
Is that what it is,that doesn't include moving the van to the next loop does it,if not ,what's the timings for that?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They are right it doesn't, but you should be checking your mail for your next delivery point, and even if you do walk at 3.7MPH you do not instantaniously start walking at that speed or come to an abrupt halt from that speed.

One more thing dingo the walk speeds may have been margenally reduced.
But so has the time at the door because when RM were using pegasus unagreed the time at the door was 7 seconds not 6.3

Whats with the "female member of staff" rubbish?

I thought women wanted equality?

If so then they work the same hours as everyone else, at the same time and at the same rate of pay!

ffs...

Oh and if your too old to do the job then you shouldnt be working.

What I find works for me is to knock; wait for ~20 seconds; knock again; start filling out the form and finally the specials/recorded sheet... Takes about a minute, but sometimes doors open just as I'm nearly finished failing their delivery! :chuckle

There would need to be a lot more clauses in my contract about things like the maximum total weight of mail including packets that a posties could take out on their assigned walk for a start; D2D limits; clauses regarding just what state my frame will be in when I arrive (being a 22.5 hour PT); a contract clause regarding the latest time I could be held back at the depot due to exceptional circumstances etc. etc.

Before I would sign up for such salary based postie job!

I used jog tracker app on my HTC phone, over three days I was averaging 1.4 mph over 5.82 miles taking me 3.44 hours to complete.

My heaviest day was 4.19 hours, average speed 1.3mph 5.82miles.

lightest 3.44 hours 1.5mph 5.87 miles

longest route 5.99 miles 4.08 hours 1.4mph (had a missort to drop off and one business that I don't go much)

so 3.7mph whatever its going to be is impossible without wearing yourself out.

Swings and roundabouts belle. You can finish nice and early in the summer and sit out in the garden. A salary for the job however long it takes you must be fairer than bullying and harrasment to get the job done under ridiculous pressures and then be expected to go out and do part of another round at any time of year.
