See if Royal mail were sensible they would just call in some of the Xmas temp applicants. There are normally loads put on the waiting list incase some of the successful xmas peeps drop out. why not just call some of those in give them some easy roads and would be cleared in a couple days at most! From a Royal Mail point of view they would even be a lot cheaper then us as they on just of minimum wage! They could always employ some "agency" workers, but that would cost money.........................

never met a company like this the harder you work the less you get paid the o/t rates are a joke
it is not the answer to bring in more casuals because the missorts become a joke and we end up
doing the work for them any way royal fail just want to make more profits off us hard workers
less o/t to staff bigger bonus to our linos just think it is hard for them these days

I completely agree. Royal mail would be screwed if everyone worked their contracted hours, they need people to do over time and this should not be the case week in week out. Employees will get ill at some point in their working career, but to cover the absence royal mail should employ agency staff and then they could get shipped to which ever office is needing covered.
I remember the days at xmas when i was working 12 hour shifts...but as the years have passed the overtime has shrunk and my performace last year was being questioned on how i couldn't shift the packets. After that fiasco i decided i've had enough of helping out royal mail through out xmas.
