acht c'mon, delivery in snow is easy what with the snowmobiles and snowshoes and fancy skis we've been given.

Not to mention the totally warm and toastie uniform which allows us to stay warm, be able to move and not break a sweat.

(yes - all said in jest)

seriously though, I've had thermals on, then the uniform, then micro fleece, then my uniform fleece and my own fingerless gloves and a wooly hat - and my brain is still thawing out on my rest day.

I feel like I've competed in a marathon every day this week and my body is just not happy.

no deliveries again in Derby although we did spend a good few hours prepping for when we do start again. Tomorrow's is not likely to go out either according to management so next week will be a nightmare for sure! Lol our lino was walking round trying to convince people to come in on a sunday :left:

Were hit pretty hard with snow last night. Phoned in to say i'd be late in as i had to wait for a bus that never arrived. Was told to turn back and not bother and to owe them the time. Didnt fancy arguing the toss about banking hours so went in seeing as i was en route anyway. Those that came in and stayed were busy prepping, some had gone out 2 to a van to deliver packets where possible and the mugs (including me) went out to deliver the lapsed walks nearest the depot. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Now what happens tomorrow when we get another days worth of mail to prep?
We have been prepping 2 days into the frame,tie-ing it down and then starting again.
No proper deliveries outside a few main streets since Monday so you can imagine what our D.O. looks like. :nervous
3 days worth of mail in our frames, the commercial walks close to the office went out yesterday but no residentials have gone anywhere since Tuesday, and part of the office was kept in then. No chance of any deliveries going out tomorrow either.

Tbh it's not even that bad yet, there must be a load of mail missing as there's room in the frame for more mail and i've only had 2 packet bags in 3 days.

Spent another day in the office prepping our mail. After 4 days of no deliveries we are running out of space to put everything! lol! I think we are going to be sent out whatever the weather monday though. The managers gathered us all around today at 9am and told us if we take out a couple of bundles / roads today we could go home even though the conditions havnt improved. Obviously everyone took the bait so now if its too dangerous to work on monday the managers can just say you went out saturday ok! I stayed in the warm and just prepped some more and was still home well before 10am. Apparantly i wasnt allowed out anyway as only people with official RM shoes were permited to do their walks!

Watch out conduct code offence now, not wearing RM shoes.
Let's hope you are just waiting for your new ones to arrive that you have ordered, due to you assesing that the tread on your old ones were too dangerous to go out in :Very Happy

Any walk have not been delivered over few days. I wouldn't like to do deliver on the return from floating week/holiday

Think there will be lot of Christmas cards posted this weekend as it is too cold to go out.

Sending you out in level 4 conditions (deep snow + ice) is a breach of H&S regulations. Our managers are being cautious this year as last year someone fell when they sent us out on solid ice, and they (the managers) got a b*llocking.

Lol dont think they would get away with a conduct code as ive been there 7 months and they only just ordered them 3 weeks ago! Not much i can do about RM's tightness. Funny thing is i bought some new boots after the first days of snow and they are 10 times better then the rubbish they give out. All i got was if you fall you wont be covered by our insurance!

Wouldnt say it was 'deep' snow and ice its not even that terrible to be honest. Tuesday was a good 5 inches of snow and we were sent out in that now its much better conditions! Would be fine if they had ordered the spikeys but obviously they went with the penny pinching option and now they are panicing cause of the mountains of mail everywhere!
