Re: Best gloves for the job?
has 10 1* reviews out of 34, one of them being from a postman :( they are probably the best gloves out there though as theyre being used by emergency services etc
30 of 31 people found the following review helpful:
1.0 out of 5 stars Not fit for purpose !
I bought these for work-i'm a postman and was looking foward to finally having warm/dry hands on those cold winter days when it rains. Before it started raining they were not very warm and when it did rain they were completly sodden through in under an hour,it felt like they had a built-in refrigeration unit.

Re: Best gloves for the job?
I'm on my third winter with a pair of these and they are spot on....

I also use a really thin pair of thermal gloves underneath.

Re: Best gloves for the job?
Can you easily grip mail with those on? I've seen the three finger gloves where the tip on the index finger and thumb is exposed which looks highly practical for handling mail but a full fingered version would be better clearly if it does the job.theboropostie wrote:I'm on my third winter with a pair of these and they are spot on....

Re: Best gloves for the job?
i use the fingerless gloves which have an overflap (like mittens top) that can either go over all fingers or fold back to be like proper fingerless ones. When it`s really cold I can have all fingers covered and just have the two index fingers out to pick the mail in the bundle i`m holding. and because the fingers are all together they don`t get as cold as in gloves.

Re: Best gloves for the job?
Two layers are much better than one for insulation and fleece material sheds water much faster than cotton.
So go for two cheap and thin fleece gloves and snip only the very end tips off the two fingers on your right hand. You will get on fine with just two finger tips exposed and if u snip it right only the very tips will be out.
Also get some petroleum jelly and really coat your hands in that before putting on the gloves it acts like an insulating thermal layer plus repels water from skin. Finally boot/shoe waterproof protector sprayed on gloves will set u back 8quid but will waterproof really well and of course you can do your footwear too!

Re: Best gloves for the job?
Best gloves for the job are woollen fingerless gloves with pullover mitt and a 'thinsulate' lining. Can be bought for about £3.99 on market stalls and ebay. In this really cold weather I have worn the royal mail gloves as well for extra insulation and my fingers have been quite warm. Now all I need is some decent socks to keep my tootsies warm!!
