Two postmen hurt in Grantham snow attacks

Two Lincolnshire postmen have been hurt in assaults which began with them being targeted with snowballs.

A postman was hit with snowballs, then pushed off his bicycle, injuring his face, shortly before noon on Saturday in Lymn Court, Grantham.

Fifty minutes later a Post Office vehicle in Hornsby Road had a window smashed with a snowball. When the driver got out he was punched.

Police said they had increased patrols in the area and appealed for witnesses.

Insp Nigel Storey said: "Snowballs frequently contain lumps of ice and even stones. This can cause considerable damage to vehicles and people when thrown.

"Damage caused in this way is viewed by the law as criminal damage and will be treated as such.

"We would not want to stop people enjoying the snow but intentional criminal damage involving snowballs will not be tolerated."

I hate it when teenage yobs think that they can throw lumps of compacted snow at people, especially posties.
These do hurt if you get hit in the head.
It's different if its liitle kids, but they don't usually do it.

Wear a woolly hat, with your stormproof hood over it, which will lessen the impact, unless you get hit in the face.

Getting injured and attacked like this isn't good at all, but if either have to take time off, presumeably their Xmas bonus drops as well?
