In a bout of complete madness, I shall be watching the first session tonight. Go to bed 2ish, get a few hours sleep, go to work, do my walk then half a walk on overtime. Keep an eye on the news for stories of a postman dying of hypothermia after collapsing from exhaustion. No doubt I'll still be out there in the dark.

Signed off work yesterday by the GP for a further 9 days which will bring me up to 23 sick days in total.

4 hours. Got rid of everything except a recorded delivery packet. very cold again but no snow, for now. Really heavy week and I'm shattered to be honest.

In at 9.00, everyone else out on their walks bar another 4 of us Back to DO by 16.00 and all delivered. Will be asking again for my R.M issued shoes/snow chains as could be a H&S issue with my crappy trainers on, especially some of the steep drives I had. Not a bad day, would have been a 15.00 finish if I didn't have to finish someone else leftovers from yest

Crazy amounts of mail today, partly thanks to Southern Water to many residential and HMRC to businesses on my high street...

Ready to leave depot at 0845 instead of normal 0750-0800 on a Saturday, 6 specials and 7 recorded, having prepped walk from bare at 0630 rather than normally arriving at 0700 to part-prep. Clocked off at 1345, with 2hrs45mins o/t for the day above my 4.5 hour per day contract. Just glad my packet load was actually quite nice for a change, ~30 items!

Our section was a real test of our lino's resolve, loads of heavy walks and most of us "mercenary o/t bandits" let him know early on that our own walks were going to be enough o/t for the day, as we expected to be out well beyond 1300. Many wanted to cut-off but lino insisted on "streamlining" today's delivery instead, which enevitably means a heavy Monday for some, not to mention some of the heavy streamlined posties still arrived back at gone 1330!

Since arriving back home around 1430, starting to unwind in the happy knowledge of having a week's vacation, returning to twork on Monday 6th Dec...

Plus I was a "good lad" (read: wanted as much legitimate o/t from my own walk) and delivered everything that was deliverable today i.e. all the mailsort and Sky mags, so my "holiday cover" (who is my day off cover too, I would not wish my walk on anyone "blind" at this time of year!) starts with a "clean slate" on Monday morning.

Personally i can't even remember the last 5 minutes of my working day never mind anything that went before it.
It was cold though and there was snow....i remember that much.
