School pupils return rubber bands to Chester’s Royal Mail

NEWTON Primary School pupils had a ball at Chester sorting office.

The youngsters walked from their school in Kingsway West to Station Road to present Royal Mail distribution manager Lee Martin with an eight-inch diameter ball made up of rubber bands dropped by postal workers on their rounds in Newton.

Teaching assistant Debbie Lee, who accompanied the children, said: “Mr Martin was wonderful with the children. He listened to what they had to say about the environmental issues surrounding discarded rubber bands.

“He was very concerned about the number of bands the pupils had found.”

I bet the kids did'nt find all the bands on the floor, more like they hassled their posties for bands to take in for a 'school project'.

I never 'discard' a rubber band, but the fact remains that through pulling things out of my pockets, and through bands having an elasticated quality (imagine that?) that may cause them to 'fire' on to the ground, I may at times ACCIDENTALLY cause this TRAGEDY to occur. I apologise on behalf of the entirety of Royal Mail Group for this HEINOUS CRIME.
