If ALL the revisions in the UK fail in the new year then Royal mail will have to return to the planning stage to sort it out.

I wager it will be a local matter.

Van sharing is here to stay in some capacity - its simply cost too much money,

Its the same old story in a delivery office and it goes like this.

Bill has a local town delivery almost straight out of the door which is a compact housing estate with most calls being council or housing association. He has 750 calls which many are terraced and have no real paths plus a low call rate of say 80 %. Georoute says he can complete in 3.30 hrs but in fact because its so compact and gets little mail he actually gets round in 2.45 hrs and is normally finished by about 11.45pm.

Ben has a driving / delivery which is 8 miles from the office and consists of large detached houses with well off private customers. He has only 400 calls but has long drives and very few cut throughs. His call rate is about 95% on most days. Georoute says it should take 3.30 hrs but in fact its nearer 3.50 hrs with parcels added, +ben's travelling time and your looking at 4.20 hrs which means a 13.20pm finish where he finds the office managers went home an hour earlier.

Now both duties are completing within time but clearly Bill is going home over 1hr 30mins before Ben. So you would think that this would have been noted by a Manager so when you have a revision this could be better balanced, simple yes? Well no, in fact all that happens is Georoute says each delivery can absorb another 30 mins work. Bill,s happy enough as he still going home at 12.15pm but Ben is now on his knees most days and threatening to cut off with 15 mins work each day ! Which earns him loads of stress and black looks each day from the Managers.

This is why revisions fail because walks are not properly tested and Managers 100% trust computer programs and are more intrested in getting out the door asap themselves to really notice or care what time people are coming back :evil/mad
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Have there been any successful revision ? anywhere

Did the problem sort itself out after a month of change ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

REVISION!!!!!! They've promised one for 3 years and nothin (thank god)...so they're doin it thro the back door. We were told we had too many outdoor hours so they tried to cut 4 delys n share amongst the office (on top of the effiency savings of 2 delys on mon & tues)...we kicked that out!!
They will be back after xmas for those. So now they've just raped our indoor/ips hours coz we had too many of those! with later starts, less sorters, double prepping, we have to take half our meal relief b 4 we go out and...do a sixth a day of hds...unf***inbelievable!!! And our union have agreed to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still not solved the age old problem of town rounds makin a killin and the 10 hours, firms and rurals gettin shafted!!!! Totally agree with guvenor's earlier post, we r in the s**t coz of the early starters, the private car users & the runners - the job n finish townies...............
