yes I told the manager and rep. the manager will be writing to him and his mail will be witheld. The rep told me the best way to deal with abusive or threatening customers is to stop delivering to the whole street. Five years ago at the local estate a druggie kept being abusive and threatening to posties. The office simply stopped delivering. they did not send out any written warnings etc. Every day the queue went round the block since everyont had to collect their mail. It was let out who the culprit was that caused it. Within a couple of days the residents sorted it out. I think he was either evicted or sectioned

Someone tried that s**t with me before as well mate, gave me grief, i ignored him. Big hardman went and got his dog. Right vicious Collie that he let off the lead at me. He got one hell of a fright when i hit it a stiff kick in the jaw and held it down by the neck to show it who the boss was!

I've had dogs all my life, so they don't bother me but i truly sympathise with the guys who do have a problem with them because them and their owners can be right buggers sometimes.

You can be prosecuted if you are reported to have a dog ‘dangerously out of control in a public place’.
  • ‘dangerously out of control’ only has to mean that ‘a reasonable person would have grounds for apprehension’.
  • ‘public place’ can be anywhere the public has access, this includes on your own property where the law states that anyone with lawful business (delivery men, postmen, milkmen etc.) must have free access to your front door unless you have made other arrangements.
If, while your dog is deemed to be ‘dangerously out of control’ an injury occurs to any person (and this includes shock), an aggravated offence is said to have occurred. If there is an injury, your dog will in the eyes of the court, be classed as dangerous.
It is an offence to deliberately use an animal as a weapon to injure someone; a successful prosecution under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 could result in a maximum sentence of life imprisonment where the defendant intended to cause really serious bodily harm and such harm was caused. Where it cannot be proven that a defendant intended to cause really serious harm and/or the injury is not really serious, the maximum sentence is five years imprisonment. Where a defendant deliberately uses their dog to cause someone to apprehend immediate unlawful violence but no injury is caused, an offence of common assault (causing someone to apprehend immediate unlawful violence) could still have been committed contrary to the Criminal Justice Act 1988. This offence is punishable by a fine and/or a prison sentence of a maximum of six months.

I made a complaint about an abusive customer, informed the security helpdesk and everything to let them know about the incident and the customer was fined etc through the courts. I did have to go make a statement at the police station though.
i did all the above after been threatened on 3 occasions because i kicked his dog, had a line manager and a plod witness one of the threats, no action taken and the bloke still gets a free redirect to his works address!

I haven't got the full S.P on this but a postwoman at another office got attacked on Thursday hit with an object to the head.... blood all over shirt and face etc called police but they appear not to be doing anything. The attacker was a girl who was complaining of missing mail after the attack the girls mother claimed the postwoman provoked it by pushing her mail bag at her daughter. It was witnessed but mother claims that postwoman and witness colluded "in their own language" to fit her daughter up.

I'll see if I can get more info tomorrow but thats the information I have at the moment.... might change as events unfold.

Kicking an attacking dog's all very well and good to stun and frighten it but to guarantee you won't get any more hassle off it you have to show it that you're above it, you have to be Top Dog and the only way to communicate this is physically if they get aggressive.

Grabbing a dog forcefully and holding it down firmly is the best way to communicate this it tells them that they are below you in the pecking order, of all the dogs my family has had (and there's been all sorts - big, small, supposedly "dangerous" breeds) this has been the method that has brought them all right in to line if they try any crap. We've never had a dog that has been out-of-control, vicious or attacked anyone either in the family or outwith. :Very Happy

:Very Happy hope you don.t treat your wife the same!!! All my dogs in the past have never had more than a firm word, and kindness and that seems to work just the same!
