A former sub postmaster and his wife have conceded the amount they took from their Norfolk post office was £76,000.
In October 2009 at Norwich Crown Court, Robert Humphrey, 52, and his wife Jacqueline, 46, admitted theft from Bradwell Post Office.
But Mr Humphrey claimed the amount taken was £40,000, not the £76,000 claimed by the police.
After hearing from financial experts at a hearing into the amount taken, the couple accepted the higher figure.
The two-day hearing at Norwich Crown Court went ahead without Mrs Humphrey who is ill.
Mr Humphrey was given bail to await sentence for theft on 17 December when pre-sentence reports will be available.
Judge Alasdair Darroch told Humphrey he faced a prison sentence.
