Revised Staffing Arrangements for Top 2000 (FSM)

Post by POSTMAN »

11 November 2010
LTB 997/10 - Revised Staffing Arrangements for Top 2000 (FSM)

No. 997/2010
Ref. L19.16
Date: 11th November 2010

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS & POSTAL DIVISIONAL REPS
For immediate circulation to all appropriate Area/Unit Representatives with Top 2000 Flats Sorting Machines (FSM)

Dear Colleague

Revised Staffing Arrangements for Top 2000 (FSM)

The Postal Executive at their Meeting on Tuesday 2nd November 2010 agreed the revised staffing levels for the Top 2000 Flats Sorting Machine (Annex E attached) as a result of the trials that were undertaken at 3 Mail Centres in line with the National Generic Trial Framework.

Branches should note that only Annex E has been amended and the remainder of the FSM Agreement remains unchanged. These arrangements apply to the machine in operational mode as additional staff in line with Paragraph 4.1 may be required for machine set up and clear down. These are the minimum staffing levels that allow the machine to be operated safely. These staffing levels can be increased due to operational and workload requirements.

The business have confirmed that individuals who are displaced as a consequence of the business driven change will receive MTSF pay protection.

Pay Protection: as part of the resolution of outstanding MTSF issues, Royal Mail Group has agreed to extend the eligibility for pay protection. This will now be applicable to all situations where an individual is displaced and loses a level of pay as a consequence of business driven change. Individuals will not be eligible where they elect to change shift or job as part of the normal resourcing process or where individuals elect to participate in a re-sign or re-pick voluntarily.

Individuals who are considering volunteering to move onto other work as a result of this management driven change are advised to enquire the pay protection terms applicable under the MTSF prior to volunteering.

The Industrial Relations Framework and MTSF Agreement in addition to the above must be used in order to protect members' terms and conditions if they are affected by this change.

All enquiries regarding the content of this LTB should be addressed as appropriate to Phil Browne, Acting Assistant Secretary, Indoor Department quoting reference number L19.16.

Yours sincerely

Phil Browne
Acting Assistant Secretary

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You're right hubba it's an embarrassing climbdown.
You agree staffing levels...RM apply unagreed staffing levels...the union negotiates and as if by magic the unagreed staffing levels become the agreed staffing levels.
They are minimum though so.....that's what they'll be then. :cuppa
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
