What happens when someone goes off sick on a van share? Our dom says he'll deal with it when it happens but I still would like to know what the plan of action will be. Does it become a van solo and an 8 hour delivery? Anyone know?
The same thing that happens when someone goes sick now...a reserve covers for them.
That is why offices should try to have 100% driving reserves.
Not much point in two non-drivers on a shared van duty is there?

It'll be the same as anything like this, horses for courses...............some places will be ideal for this sort of working and some won't. I still have doubts about large urban areas and how the CDVs will work where parking is restricted for one reason or another and of course the HCTs in huge tenement areas but of course they aren't a major stumbling block because they represent a small margin of the overall delivery method revisions.

If Royal Mail brought out a pair of boots with nails sticking into your feet the courier would have some idiot with a big grin saying they are the best thing since sliced bread.
A week in and it just gets worse.Asking people to work Sun to clear the backlog.
Manager begging us to go in early.
Mail left every day.
Half my duty not gone today(again).
Work to time, take my meal-breaks,use my trolly,go home.
think its about time royal mail big wigs came on this site, goin to send the web site to moya so she can see its not workin no were.seem to be payin more in overtime to get the job done.well done CWU again for sellin us down the river.and you have the cheek to put up members fees end of the year, good i came out then wernt it.

Geo route - what a joke. four and a quarter hour deliveries - no chance. The walks have been made longer as well as more packets. Does geo route take into account all the extra packets we have now as well as all the extra P739s we have to write out? Full walks failing in our office. Walk frames made out wrong. Are RM not interested in the customers any more? They need to get the job sorted and fast. Only one way to revise walks properly is to walk them with the postpersons who have to deliver them. Most of our new walks are far too long. Bring back the early morning delivery. Let's put the customer first...................I'll dream on !!

Rest assured, Royal Mail management are no more interested in RMC than the CWU are and once privatisation kicks in, the new masters will be looking to stomp on any adverse publicity. Similar thing happened in Holland a few months ago. Tabloids might wander in if there is anything they can pad out a story with but only for their own ends, proved a few times already.
Don't believe everything you're told in the rest room
