DHL increases pay offer to staff on Jaguar Land Rover contract

DHL Supply Chain has upped its salary offer to staff on the Jaguar Land Rover contract in a bid to avoid strike action.

The logistics giant has submitted an improved wage offer to some 800 logistics employees working at Jaguar Land Rover's sites at Halewood, Merseyside; Castlewood Bromwich and Solihull. The offer is in response to Unite members voting in favour of taking industrial action on Monday 15 November.

Workers, including warehousing staff and forklift drivers, were unsatisfied with DHL's original offer, particularly as Jaguar Land Rover had agreed to a 5% pay award for its own staff.

"DHL, employees and Unite officials continue to be in productive dialogue regarding wage negotiations. [The improved wage offer] has received a recommendation for acceptance from Unite. DHL remains optimistic that the wage claim will be swiftly resolved," a spokeswoman for DHL says.

Trade union Unite tells Roadtransport.com it hopes to avoid a strike where possible and is in talks with members.
