So being on a 25 hour contract does make me less of an asset, regardless of seniority, at my own DO. Being overlooked for a walk of my own on 2 occasions doesn't help. I can see the logic though, looks like I'll have to accept the conditions I am working under.dvbuk55 wrote:As I understand it rb is the only one of the three reserves on a 25 hour contract, brought down from 35 hours, for what reason is not clear. Now if the office requiring another postman only needs a person on a 25 hour contract they are unlikely to accept paying someone on a 30 hour contract for a 25 hour vacancy.

Re: Discriminated against for being on 25 hour contract
Out of interest, if phase 2 flexability has yet to be implemented in our office, how do I stand regarding being sent to other offices?

What happens before Phase 2 Flexability
I was wondering if anyone knew where we stood pre Phase 2 flexability, particularly regarding being sent to other offices. I work in a DO that hasn't reached that stage yet and if we could still be sent to other offices?

This is to do with your other post isn't it?
Yes you can be sent to another office if you are surplus in your own office.
EDIT:Topics merged.

Being sent to other offices is part of the P&M 2007 agreement not the BT2010 so you should have been through that Phase 2 years ago.realitybites wrote:I was wondering if anyone knew where we stood pre Phase 2 flexability, particularly regarding being sent to other offices. One final question, does reporting to my own office and getting transport to and from another DO still stand pre phase 2?

Oh yeah baby, and it fecks them big time depending on where the other office is.realitybites wrote:One final question, does reporting to my own office and getting transport to and from another DO still stand pre phase 2?
Don't let them fob you off with bollox.
They take you there and bring you back in duty time.

You haven't had phase 2 flexability yet!realitybites wrote:I was wondering if anyone knew where we stood pre Phase 2 flexability, particularly regarding being sent to other offices. I work in a DO that hasn't reached that stage yet and if we could still be sent to other offices?
Bullshit!
Do you do long and shorts, introduced under phase 2 flexability.
Do you's do summer lapsing, introduced under phase 2.
Do you blue crane your condemnations, introduced under phase 2.
Have you's ever been asked to work 30 mins longer and get 30 mins back later in the week rather than be paid O/T, again phase 2.
I know you's get sent to other offices, THATS PHASE 2 FLEXABILITY!!!

Re: What happens before Phase 2 Flexability
I've just been reading this,
couple of questions, if you feel you are being picked on, 1. have you spoken to the line manager and 2. have you spoken to your CWU rep?
the next question is, if they do not want to transport you during duty time and tell you to report at the other DO then fill in a mileage claim of 40p a mile and an excess travel form, it is yellow in colour and is called a P2320, it pays slightly less then O/T and it also makes sure you are insured when travelling to another office, is it still the case a PT cannot claim overtime rate until 40hrs?
If he is still only sending you out then take out a greviance against the DOM, as it sounds like he is picking on you, make sure you keep a diary of all the instances s/he has done this as it will strengthen your case.
regarding the buydown of hours, if you took it voluntary then its too late but in future always consult your cwu rep, as that is what you pay your subs for,
I know some of you could be shocked that a manager is providing practical advise, but i work under the rules, a happy workforce will work harder then a workforce who do not give a crap.
I still get my old team asking me advise about what is right/wrong as they know i will not feed them lies and their new manager hates it.
