AN ABERYSTWYTH postman is lucky to be alive after he was involved in a serious car crash on the A44.
The crash, which saw him rushed to hospital and left the road closed for over four hours, has reignited calls from residents and councillors for improved road safety measures to be taken.
Postman Dai Pryse had been delivering mail near Lovesgrove just after 9am last Thursday when his van was involved in a head-on collision with a Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction.
Mr Pryse had just delivered the mail to Grove Cottage, which is less than half a mile from the Royal Mail depot on the Glanyrafon Industrial estate, and was just pulling back onto the road when the crash took place.
The driver of the Ford Focus managed to get out of his vehicle and with the help of witness Ian Herd alerted emergency services, who arrived on the scene within minutes.
