Yes the manager broke the law re: your OT and yes you could have put in a grievence/harrassment form (available from your rep or a manager) but it's so long in the past it wouldn't be considered today. They do it to keep the OT budget down and yes they get a bonus/share of the office savings. Unfortunatelt RM has a long history of employing bully boys for managers but it is getting better where we are anyway.
With regard to union help why not just get a form from your rep take the 2-3mins it takes to fill it in then hand it back. Part of the reps/cwu self styled duty is to fight against discrimination no matter who it occurs to so your rep should fight your corner whether you are a member or not. But reps are given time by RM (by way of normal trade union relations between employer and union) in the week to do the duties needed to represent the number of cwu members in your office and more members - I would imagine - means more time he is allowed to devote to yours and other causes. Also as a cwu member you will get supported all the way to an employment tribunal I don't think they would do that for a non member.

Its a 3 year limit for an ET to get back any unpaid wages, 6 years in a county court. RM don't I believe support all cases for an ET if you are a union member, sad I know.meercat wrote:Yes the manager broke the law re: your OT and yes you could have put in a grievence/harrassment form (available from your rep or a manager) but it's so long in the past it wouldn't be considered today. I take you meant CWU in that hantsman and if so you are correct. I think they use the better than 50/50 chance of winning limit to take on cases.hantsman wrote:Its a 3 year limit for an ET to get back any unpaid wages, 6 years in a county court. Re: working to your allotted time
I decided to join the union, I posted back my renewal forms. Despite the pittfalls of being a casual, I think it must be better to be in a union that out of it, at least I can get some help if needbe

Well what about 'the working class can kiss my arse, I've got the foreman's job at last''? That seems to be view behind some ex reps who become managers lolmeercat wrote:The workers united will never be divided. Well that's the theory.

Be grateful you can leave around nine, three days a week we leave the office at 10.35, Saturday is the only day we leave before nine if we are readyPat Ostman wrote:People are back at 11am in our office on a Saturday, 12pm mon-fri so it's not THAT hard to believe.easter bunny wrote:11am !!! Rubbish.. Postman/women are unable to leave their offices before 9am....You reckon it takes less than 2hrs to complete a walk.. Your a ringer mate....
Every single office is different, be enlightened instead of casting doubt on what everyone says. Managers do not allow posties out before 9am? What, in YOUR office or EVERY office?
Believe me, you are most certainly wrong!
