Xmas and new year days off.

Getting a lot of queries on this,here is the info below...

The days off at Xmas are...

Sat25th
Sun26th
Mon27th*
Tue28th*
* substitute day/Official bank holidays

Sat 25th IS NOT a bank holiday (It is a non service day)so if it's your rest day you do not get it back.

The days off at New Year are(Part nicked from Fishtank's post)...

In England
Sat 1st Jan will be a non-service day,it IS NOT a bank holiday /if it's your rest day you do not get it back.
Mon 3rd Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your rest day you will get it back.

In Scotland
Sat 1st Jan will be a non-service day,it IS NOT a bank holiday if it's your rest day you do not get it back.
Mon 3rd Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your rest day you will get it back.
Tue 4th Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your rest day you will get it back.

Why do the Jockinese get an extra bloody day, I thought we were the United Kingdom, seems they always come off best when it comes to days orf

It's Northern Ireland who come off best. They get 2 extra Bank Holidays for St Patrick's Day, 17 March and the Battle of the Boyne, 12 July.

If I recall correctly, Scotland does not get the late summer bank holiday (end of August), but during the course of 12 months, we all get the same number.
Anyway, ever seen a Scotsman at New Year? The second bank holiday is so they can sober up.

We still get that one but varies a bit locally, we get it at end of september, but yes overall same number

My long weekend happens to fall on Saturday (new years day) and Monday the 3rd of January.

Will i get these 2 day's back???

We dont get good friday off up here but we get easter monday. Always thought it weird that you get the friday off and have to come in on the saturday and then you get monday off

You would have thought that Jesus could have done his resurrection bit over 2 consecutive days and made it easier for you southerners to roll your eggs
