Damn we got a payrise on deliveries? Why did no one tell me the loss of £20 a week D2D money counted as a payrise? There was me thinking we got shafted.... oh hang on a minute we did get shafted!NumptyBumpty wrote:So, not only are we not getting a pay-rise (unlike everyone else in RM),

Re: Redundancies
Vanman, Thanks for the up-date.
I don't think the 'cowardly' comments were made at the union (albeit i didn't make them), and i do believe thats a reasonable way to describe how people were told, i see no reason why there manager coudn't have called a meeting and told them. Other than that i don't see anyone jumping to conclosions and making unwarrented assumptions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

With Operational Postal Grades being a little later. Moya believes we are overstaffed hence the latest round of cuts, also reducing the head count in the cheapest possible way before privatisation makes RM look better for anyone wanting to buy in.
As I have been saying I honestly think this is one issue where we have to ignore the past differences we have had with the CMA/CWU relationship and back any strike. If we don't it will mean we are an easier target further down the line.
Senior management plan is
Divide the workforce
Start compulsory redundancies on easy and politically acceptable targets
Once the precedent is set move into the ranks where the real tens of thousands of the numbers needed can be picked off
Collect fat bonus
Leave company with enhanced axeman/woman reputation and start again somewhere else (See Canada Post)

Re: Redundancies
The cowardly comment was directed at management. In our office, all our managers are currently going through the restructuring, having to apply for their jobs and not knowing if they are going to be made redundant or not. It's not nice seeing some good people really worried about there jobs and most of us have been quite sympathetic towards them. They've had loads of meetings and have been informed of everything face-to-face. So for us to just receive an email is a bit out of order.belle smith wrote:Vanman, Thanks for the up-date.
