Since that time we have not been idle and, despite the practical difficulties in arranging meetings because of the half term break, have been trying to identify a way forward that would result in the position whereby a ballot and the subsequent action would not be necessary. Unfortunately despite our best efforts this has not been possible. Neither have we responded to the communication from the Chief Executive but we do so now.

Do they get a half term break now ffs? I realise that sometimes managers go missing but we are told they are at a meeting but now we know the truth

If RM are willing to steam roll over managers with compulsory redundancy, then we need to get ready for them to try the same with us postal workers. Thankfully we have more of a fighting union, but need to make sure the vast majority of the workforce stay strong.

1. Recruitment Freeze. It was in November 2008 that Unite wrote to the then Chief Executive asking for a moratorium on management recruitment. We did this because we were concerned at the increasing number of surplus managers in the business and we wanted to resolve these.

Now managers are getting a taste of what is was like for us. Little then did they realise that they were carrying out the actions of an evil employer who just used and abused them as well as us. May be now all be it too late, they may beg for forgiveness at the way in which some managers held the staff in uniform with utter contempt, now that the shoe is on the other foot. :cfo

Welcome back robmmacca - Your post has it spot on and I just hope Union members don't adopt a short sighted view and because of bad feelings don't back the managers when and where possible.

Ok they attacked us during our various disputes and they did our work when we were on strike. They have a corporate bullying style of motivation and regularly brief against workers and Union officials.

But if we don't back them and support their strike then I would have to ask what makes that any different to them crossing our picket lines, but more importantly we should look at is as an opportunity not to get at management, but to make a stand on what will eventually be coming our way.
