Don't take post from privateers — send it back like I do

When receiving maiI with a TNT or UKMail imprint, I post it back with a label affixed:

"PLEASE RETURN TO SENDER. Your using UKMail or TNT causes the Royal Mail to deliver this at less than cost. This causes the cost of postage for everyone else to increase. Please use Royal Mail."

On Saturday at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee, the CWU speaker confirmed my feelings about cost.

I then told the assembly of my direct action and received enthusiastic applause.

We should indeed be trying our best to counter the privatisation plans of the Con-Dem coalition.

However I do feel that the best we can do now is impotent in comparison to what we can do when a Labour government is in power.

Then we should be raising our voices at branch and constituency meetings, threatening Labour MPs with deselection and doing all that the marvellous democracy of the Labour Party allows us to do rather than lamely "not rocking the boat."

The Morning Star should run a feature explaining the policy-making process in the Labour Party - particularly now that the national policy forum delegates have been elected by the one-member-one-vote system.

But won't we just lose more money having to return it to sender.
And I doubt if his Quixotic campaign will make the slightest difference.
