Oops, they've lost their ipod

Post by NEWS »

ROYAL Mail workers are facing disciplinary action after they played a spoof Britney Spears song at work.

Bosses are looking at the behaviour of some staff at the Royal Mail delivery office in Slatyford Lane, Newcastle, after they were given a communal iPod to brighten up their day.

The disciplinary issue centres around workers playing an "offensive" joke version of the Britney Spears' song, Oops! . . . I Did it Again.

Post Office bosses confiscated the £300 iPod, which had been introduced as part of a Royal Mail scheme to improve the workplace.

The 100-strong Newcastle workforce were each allowed to put a few favourite tracks on the iPod so they could listen to their own music while sorting the mail.

But problems developed after the spoof Britney track was heard by bosses.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "A disciplinary issue is being investigated at this delivery office and we cannot comment. Royal Mail has an absolute policy of respect for all, and total opposition to any form of harassment."

But staff are furious, and one worker, who did not wish to be named, said: "We're up in arms about the destruction of our beloved communal iPod."

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

When we were in dispute at christmas 1998 the manager banned, a few songs from our CD collection being played because we all used to sing them at the top of our voices, including ( ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST )( UNDER PRESSURE )and ( WEVE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE ) in reference to the fact that the situation was making managers bad or have nervouse breakdowns.

It is disturbing to see work as a fight against the 'screws' and that work is like a sentence.

What would you do if you were management?

a: Had a laugh with everyone else about the song?
b: Don't approve and move the offending song?
c: Implement a full investigation and take disciplinary action against those who put the song on?

I am interested to hear people's views on this. I don't work in the postal industry anymore and unless something dramatic changes I will not be returning. So I am not some management spy etc... I am interested because I used to be a frontline manager.

My battery is running out

Why's the fozzmeister wanna know for?

Post by POSTMAN »

I think it depends on the song,if it was just plain rude, like loads of f or c words then i'd delete it and tell the office it's a no no.
I'm presuming someones complained so i'm presuming again it's much more than the above.
There's this bloke at work i get on well with,we sometimes go footie together ect but he gets these text messages, you know the ones....
If there's a disaster somewhere, someone dies ect there's a joke about it flying around, and he seems to get 'em,but he doesn't bother telling me no more as i've said to him i don't wanna know.
These things aint nice :no no

If it was summin similarish in song form, then i'd probably do what the Manager has done.
Sorry,but dats meee

As for this...

It's like that anyway, you don't need a dodgy song on an Ipod to go that way,but you know that anyway :Very Happy
