No it's not as simple as that...your D.O. should have a plan in place to deal with bank holidays...failing the contract is not part of that plan.
Leave it to the managers to manage but i can guarantee you will be taking out more than 1/6th per day...if that means you are booking O/T or cutting off then that is the way to deal with it.

According to my diary, with Christmas and Boxing day falling on the Saturday and Sunday, both Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th are bank holidays in lieu. Will we getting a nice long 4 day break to get boozed up, or are Scroogal Mail going to make us the only workforce pounding the streets with New Year's Day Sale D2D leaflets on the Tuesday?
Anyone?
Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for 4 days off.
Yes,it's 4 days off.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The English like an extra day to roll their eggs. We like to drink :chuckle
