Exceptions to Royal Mail’s Universal Service Obligation on 1, 3 and 4 January 2011 – Decision

Postcomm has agreed to Royal Mail’s application for an exception to the Universal Service on Monday 3 January 2011 in the UK and Tuesday 4 January 2011 in Scotland only, in addition to Saturday 1 January 2011.

There will be no Royal Mail deliveries or collections on the specified dates.

Royal Mail must ensure that its customer communications are adequate and timely so that customers know what the arrangements are for delivery and collection services over the New Year period. It should start informing its business and access customers in early November to enable them to plan ahead.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Anyone know about the Christmas Bank Holiday situation though? According to my diary, with Christmas and Boxing day falling on the Saturday and Sunday, both Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th are bank holidays in lieu. Will we getting a nice long 4 day break to get boozed up, or are Scroogal Mail going to make us the only workforce pounding the streets with New Year's Day Sale D2D leaflets on the Tuesday?
Anyone?
Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for 4 days off.

Mon 3rd Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your day off you will get it back.
Tue 4th Jan will be a Bank Holiday(substitute)....if it's your day off you will get it back.
