It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Somebody has got to pay for their lovely expensive houses, and jolly ups. They won't be up at 5am on Saturdays schlepping around, so you've gotta pay!
Now be thankful for your very own Hayes and Ward. Absolute waste of money. :evil/mad

Those are some big numbers dv and as far as i know it doesn't include the £1.5million of members contributions that are used to prop up the creaking staff pension.
It will be interesting to see where the £4million in cuts might be coming from. :whistle

Staff Superannuation Schemes ...................................1,240,000
That looks an awful lot like a pension scheme unless you mean £1.5m in addition to this.
ps. if that muppet Loinel 'gamble on equities' Sampson was in charge then i'm not surprised it's creaking.

The Pensions regulator recently reported that 97% of defined benefit pensions schemes have seen increased deficits. The schemes sponsored by the CWU are no exception and the fact is that we are now facing combined deficits in the three pension schemes we sponsor of around the £14 million mark (subject to final actuarial valuation).
This will necessitate an increase in yearly spend of approximately £1.2 - £1.4 million in order for us to deal with these deficits. This is an addition to the already steadily increasing expenditure that we are currently incurring and thus worsens our ongoing rate of expenditure.

Well we've heard of these cuts before, when the unions amalgamated BUT the expenditure has gone up and up and lovejoy stated that the pensions were being reviewed................................ will the review cut the final salary to a career defined scheme I wonder - perhaps they'll just increase the subs. I do notice thought that the expenditure on recruitment isn't that high.
