No problems reported/scare stories, any opinion on what's going on.
From a non X Factor fan, genuinely interested and promise not to attack the view.
Fair to say it is a mixed bag!

Some revisions have gone very well with the introduction of methods / sequencing offering members better attendance patters, weight off the shoulder etc.

On the other hand we still have major issues with managerial attitudes but I have to say where these are being raised with senior management they are slowly but surely being dealt with..........they key is to make sure that your rep raises it and if he/she doesnt send a note to branch or even hq. People can't help unless they know about it. We are very good at moaning without actually formally challenging.
OK I'll keep my promise :silenced :Very Happy
I can agree with your final sentence, But then what happens to formal challanges.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

That in my experience will depend on the quality of your reps and the pressure applied by the members.......

Mind it is a fairly limited equation - 156 offices out of 1500 so far gone forward......................

Not good on both counts in my neck of woods.
We all share the blame in my opinion.

I've got to be honest here...the divisional and area meetings i have been to...and compare them to here is frightening!

Branches say..."We are fine".....when they flippin well ain't..they need shooting!

Branches say.."Our bloody reps are signing things off at a ridiculous rate"....those reps need "outing". What I am afraid of is those local reps going and creating a vacuum..cos no-one wants the job/voluntary role..and it is s**t..be honest.

The fact is the business will "sweeten up" the local reps..and they are too weak to see it. They have no trade union instinctive,or any other instinct to be honest.

To those local reps and branches....if it sounds too good to be true...it probably is......

Tell your boss..."I will need advise on that". Agree nothing in principle. Get on here and ask us!!!

TBH at our office it lies in the revision being bulldozed through. At the meetings we've had concerns were raised and never addressed.
For example.
We as workers said the walks were far too big and unrealistic. We offered the company to take a couple of walks from each section and posties offered their services for free to test the whole walk. (management said no, and tested a couple of streets.
We asked what time was being allocated for 800/900 x 5 d2d's to be prepped. they said 8mins. We have rounds over 1200 on the revision to we asked this to be checked. To be fair the answer came back 30mins. Now i can't see where the time has been put back as the walks are still the same.
We have lots more issues that need addressing but management want to push ahead and implement. My concerns are the deliveries have been done on paper to save money and not achievable workload which i was led to believe we'd get. We will get 34jobs taken out through this revision and i don't see where the slack is.

I kind of disagree lovejoy...Senior reps must be more pro-active...not sit about waiting for notes.

Area reps should be visiting D.O.s on a regular basis and talking to ordinary members on a more informal basis.Reps talking to other reps is often just a waste of time.

Thirty minutes of walking up and down the aisles talking to members one to one is far more productive than a staged 30 minute meeting where everyone but the office mouth piece stares at their shoes.
Divisional reps should be visiting "problem offices" to find out exactly where those problems lie...is it a local problem?...is it an area problem?...how can the situation be improved?...it happens in some areas but it doesn't happen in most.

And most of all reps must be more accountable...if they are not up to the job at any level....get rid and quickly before they do any more damage...if we do nothing and the level of representation does not improve the membership will continue to shrink and eventually what HQ thinks of this site will be irrelevant because the site will have more members than the CWU and then we really will be screwed.

Apologies Belle but it's never the fault of the agreement...it's always our fault for being weak and feeble.

I do understand your point about meetings because this is exactly what happens.
Reps are only as good as the backing they receive from the floor and to blame the Rep (although there are some exclusions) is harsh being the thankless, frustrating and stressful job it is!
People are generally too selfish and shortsighted to stand together over issues.
Backing is the answer to everything on the shop floor!!!!!
Always be one step ahead, play their game but be wiser. Revenge is sweet.

I'm not blaming good reps or even bad reps who try their best with very little training but if a minority of reps are taking the piss and looking after themselves before their members at ANY level...we need to be able to shift them out as quick as we can and branch, division and HQ need to be more supportive towards the members with this and a bit less like an old boys network.

Had to bump this, now you knows i love ya Dingo,but.............

However equally the scare stories on here must all be from the 156 offices and not the 13 hundred odd who have yet to deploy. Lets keep things real !!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
