And the soles on the cat shoes aren't wafer thin - though they might feel it to the 'larger' postie :chuckle
Us hard workers wear them out quicker because we arn't legging it round, yours probably last 6 months because only your toes touch the ground with all that running around you do :cuppa
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I've been talking about the trainers, yes - I'd assume everyone else is as well.

They just don't have adequate support in them to last more than a couple of months and they cause various aches and pains

And then what are you expecting? Something to be done about it?!

Bit of a contradiction there :cuppa

Mind you, dragging your feet does tend to wear shoes out quicker. Try jogging :chuckle

Best shoes royal mail ever supplied us where the clarkes ones. Not the most fashionable but the most comfortable shoes I ever had. The trainers they supply should never be issued as if you was to close look at them they have no shock absorbing qualities resulting in damage to knees, ankles and muscle fatigue.

Day 4 of new Caterpillar boots...

Removed insoles on day2, as the pointy-shape of the boots was "strangling" my toes and the toe joints. Removing insoles appeared to help a lot.
My feet were killing me today on the walk, across the toe joints, plus a blister-like soreness was developing on my heel (turns out laces has slackend off, allowing more foot movement).
If only I could fit my "Ironman shock absorbers" in these boots...

Why are royal mail shoes/trainers not supplied in different width fittings? It is no good having unisex sizing as women's feet are so much smaller than mens. I have terrible problems with my feet which mainly started when wearing the old style Magnum shoes. They were so wide that my feet were sliding around causing callous and corns on the soles of my feet and scrunching of toes trying to keep my feet still. Since then I have worn out 3 pairs of my own comfortable shoes/boots but cannot afford to keep buying them. After a very long wait ,(6 months, for some reason size 5 and 6 are always out of stock!!!!!) I managed to get a pair of Cat trainers. they are exactly the same, much too wide, feet sliding about even with orthotics and wearig thick socks. Also, Cat trainers are not waterproof and I cannot wear Magnums/Dr Martens as the soles are too rigid. It looks as though I will have to spend more of my own money and get a pair of comfortable Goretex shoes.

Here here sequin. I also find that the unisex shoes are too wide for my women's feet. When i complain to my DOM, they look blank and say they know nothing about the sizing or else suggest i wear two pairs of socks.
Had the CAT trainers last time and have suffered from arch pain for the last 3 weeks

Day5 of Cat boots...

Put the insoles back in to protect from rubbing, only for that feeling as if walking barefoot across 50p sized pebbles at the "beach" to return with a vengenace, the toe-foot joint line including the "ball" of my foot was in agony. Round took ~30 mins longer to complete, thankfully I had my old Cat trainers at work to change into before doing a cut-off.

Lino told me they can enforce the ordering of more than 1 pair of Cat trainers per 12 months for us posties, if the old ones are shot away, which mine certianly are! Lino is going to order me a new set of trainers tomorrow! :nana

Upmto now I've always had Magnums with no problems, but this latest pair are really making my feet ache, and would last me until the spring when i was considering getting a pair of the CAT trainers, but not after this reading through this thread.

good luck with getting new pair of trainers - 6 months and still waiting

as someone already said - size 5/6 always seem out of stock. I've not quite resorted to bare feet to hammer home my point, but it's tempting
